A night out on the mountain. *Off Topic*

What? No air mattress!? You sir, are a real man...Playtex mat and all. Thanks for sharing!

Great photos--thanks!

Is the "new toy" one of Hunter's 52100 machetes? Thoughts?

Good eye will thats correct.

Hunters "Fellbeast" is my first true Machette not counting the 1311. This was my first time using it and I put it through its paces.
I'm not too good at guesstimating edge angle but its pretty slim and 52100 always amazes me with its toughness. We cut a lot of
tulip poplar and pine neither of which were very hard but I did get into some oak with it. The largest sized logs were maybe 6-8 across.
I wasn't in the least bit disappointed that I left my axe behind this trip because for how thin that machette is it can really chop and bite deep.
Anything 4 inches or smaller across is really in trouble with that thing cut like a laser. 17.5 inches of edge was a blast to use.

I can see myself bushwhacking through mountain laurel this year having a blast. This was also one of my first time buying a custom blade
from a small operation like Hunter but Hunter was first class to deal with seems like a real straight shooter. I'll probably be buying another
big chopper in the future from him he has some good stuff coming down the line.

Brilliant mate, just brilliant.....!!!!!! It was just shy of 100F where I was yesterday....I spent three hours rowing a crappy tourist boat up a river...!!!! I would have killed for some snow..!!!

Come on over Andy it just dumped some more snow on us!

What a great way to burn 1000 calories ? But I'm confused, being from S.California. What is all that white stuff on the ground ??

Dan

Cool--thanks for that. Wish Jerry would make one like that in INFI, but until he does, differentially treated 52100 is not a bad way to go.

Maybe we should start a "Bring the Machete" thread?!?!? :D

Really cool pictures. (No pun intended). I haven't been winter camping since I was in the Army, and that was way back in the early 60s. Those pics have me thinking I ought to give it a try. I've got the equipment.

Its a good time especially if you love the winter. The right gear makes a different I have the military sleep system down to -30F I believe.
Something about being out in the cold and elements that gets me in touch with my primal instincts. Just like it.

If you do post pics!
