A nod to Benchmade from a guy who wasn't always a fan

First off, I've got to say that I'm way impressed with Benchmade's customer service. I filled out the online form stating that I'd like to buy a polished clip for my Walnut mini Bone Collector (axis) because of the stone-washed finish on the blade and they just sent me one... very quickly and completely free of charge. I've heard stories of how good Benchmade's customer service is, but I've never had the chance to experience it first hand -now I know and can tell you: they take care of their customers.

Second thing is that I bought a mini-Barrage and a Emissary a while back, but sold the Emissary due to the assisted action (I kept the mini-Barrage, but didn't carry it much for the same reason). So today I decided to open it up and remove the assisted-spring - which is a very different task than I've ever had to take on (there is a hollow puck around the pivot that houses a coil-spring with two fingers that hold it to the puck/tang).

It is now probably one of my favorite < 3" folders.

I have always disliked Benchmade's style or that one or two things they do to ruin a perfectly good knife - but I'm starting to come around. I do still wish they could make some of the older knives I missed out on, but all in all - I'm warming up to several of their newer designs.

not a huge benchmade fan but i have a griptillian thats kind of cool, good to know tho

I too had a good customer service experience when Benchmade paid for my shipping of an 810 Contego for warranty repair. While I continue to be more of a Spyderco/Kershaw/SOG guy, I own a number of Benchmades and they get plenty of pocket time.

Benchmade is consistent across the board. I'll always have one or more in my collection.
Welcome back.

I thought I would never give benchmade a second chance after I bought my first bencmade . The mini grip and I know it's a drum that gotten beat but my knife came very dull comper to kershaw and spyderco . Then a good buy came up on the exchange and I got the 755 MPR and man I love the knife . When I first saw this knife I didn't think much of it then I said I'll give benchmade a second try since there no kershaw's or spyderco that I want . And man all I can say the 755 is awesome it's heavy its chunky and the blade shape sweet the steal is m390 and it's look up is just as good as my ZT 550 . I'm likeing benchmade more I'm looking at the 943 as my next purchase just hope I like it.

I live 30 min from Benchmade. I can drop my knife off, have it checked and sharpened and pick it up 5 days later. I just bought a Mini- Rukus auto and the blade is slightly off center. No worries! They'll fix it.

Oh and about a month ago I sold a 806 AFCK to someone and I couldn't find the nylon bag for the knife. I called BM to ask if they sold them and they said no but they'd send me one. They asked me the model and 2 days later it arrived on the mail. No charge. Great company if you can find a knife design you like... I am partial to the 615 and the 806.

I had never really liked Benchmade I was always a Spyderco guy, I recently picked up a 580 as my first Benchmade and was just really surprised and happy with it, now I also own a Griptillian and I'm seeing a 940 in my future.
