I posted in the "looking to buy" forum, and "Brian E" sent me a message he had a 45, would sell for $100. After explaining what he had, I told him it was smaller, probably a 30 or 35, then sent him to Chucks site to look around and try to id it for further sales, and even tried to help him with a decent price. I said was really looking for something bigger, like the 45, but no worries, he should have good luck selling it. Next I see it posted in the FS forums for $85, $15 less then what he tried to sell it to me for.
There were already two responses. So I sent him a note and said, hey, if those fall through, let me know, as I could spend $85, just not the $100 (as I'm saving for something bigger). In jest (with smiley) I say, to bad you didn't offer it to me for $85, because I would have bit. He then asks me why I think it wasn't posted on knifeforums. Then says "maybe-but the price is rising". Not knowing what these mean, I write back and ask. He then seems to have a hostle tone, saying "I'll give you a hint. This is play money - I don't make house or another
payments off of it. Either I will get what I want or I'll auction the damn
thing off. One guy has backed out and I am currently waiting for the next
guy to write back."
I don't fully understand, and I say its weird for two people to back out, but if they do, let me know. His responce "I'll give you a hint. I determine whether or not I sell something. It is
never smart to tell someone you would have paid more. It's a good way to
have your "wish" come true." At this point, things sound weird, so I say i am not interested, as it seems he is trying to raise the price on his buyer, and I don't like that sort of thing. His response "Evidently, you are not reading what I am sending you. Would suggest you do
so.", followed by"Works for me, since you are the reason it slid.".
I don't know this guy or what his deal is, but it sounded like he was playing me and buyers, and I wanted no part of it. Whan I requested to be removed from the "waiting list" of potential buyers, he seemed to turn the blaim on me and accuse me of screwing something up.
Now, I have no idea how the deal is going or went, but all of this seems odd to me. I've seen some of the potential buyers on the bali forum several times, and don't want anybody to get burt or hassled.
Seems he is around offering the same knife for sale again. My experiences with Brian have been weird to say the least. I can't figure out were he is coming from, and I don't want to see anyone get jerked around.
True, he never ripped me off, as I never sent him money. This is not an ugly post, just a cautionary note. He was cryptic and I only got bad vibes from him. If someone pulls of a good sale with Brian, more power to you both. I'd just be hesitant with buying a 30 series bali anytime in the near future.
