A perfect knife should have:

A wave, a frame or axis lock, grippy cf handles, a pocket clip, a rust resistant coating, a clip point, quality steel, one hand openning, titanium liners, and a blade of at least 3.5 inches but not over 4.5.

Folder:
>Axis lock or lockback
>G-10 Handle with SS liners
>Very high hardness (63-64) high carbon steel full flat ground blade no longer than 4 inches and without a coating.
>Plain Edge (combo edges are like women: they're nice and curvy, but don't do much!)
>Low riding RH tip up carry
>Very ergonomic handle with rounded corners
>Hole for opening
>Style that appeals to me, but is not too funky

Fixed Blade:
>Full tang with SS screws and no epoxy
>High carbon steel or D2
>Exotic wood scales with sweet grain pattern, or good old G-10.
>Full flat ground drop point blade
>Handmade leather sheath that holds blade securely
>No more than six inches long

For me (in no particular order):

distinguishable design
good steel (higher grade steels like VG10, S30V, 154CM, ATS34, and newcoming supersteels :))
tip down carry
manual (NO springs in any form)
properly executed lock
no bladeplay and centered blade
no "tanto" or chisel grind
No S30V for me. From what I've been reading, BG42 sounds better to me. Make it a Ti frame-lock with 3-inch recurve drop-point or modified drop-point blade and I'm in :)

Oh, and maybe a spyder-hole :)

can,t wait till i can afford that perfect knife lg lefty sebbie classic with marcotta inlay s30v steel do i hear a urah? sounds perfect to me now leave me alone so i can daydream:D

Fixed blade, big enough for a comfort grip on heavy cutting and small enough to be carried in my front pocket like a folder.

A blade thick enough to be a bit stronger than you my need but thin enough for cittung efficience. An edge thick enough to cut everything hard but fine enough for fine cuttings.

Of all contrasting properties a good inbetween.:D

Drop point blade in S30V, 154CM, M2 or D2
G10 scales
Full steel liners
Axis Lock
The image of a butterfly on the blade

A G10 scaled Presidio would pretty much do it.
.. or a Ritterized 710
