Actually it's pretty ugly. It looks to me like he may have damaged his liver. Any further word on how it turned out?

why oh why would you beat the back of a sword like that especially one that is sold for 13bux in the smoky mountain catalog. I dont normally cheer someone getting hurt but if you saw those two morons doing thier show you would wonder why it didnt happen more often. The one that got nailed by the sword always spun blades with ring guards like he was in a wild west show, always banging swords around like that even chopping into the stand they had with sword, throwing the knife at the log block to get it to stick and other types of stuff that would get them banned for life at a real knife show. You ask me they should air that clip before and after any of the hsn knife collector shows as a prime example of what can happen when you act stupid with a knife or sword.

Maybe they can use the money they have milked off the unwary to pay for the medical bills. I actually hope he didn't get REALLY hurt though...
 
The real lesson here is not that cheap swords break easily. The lesson is that you shouldn't trust swords made of stainless steel. A really cheap carbon steel sword would bend, not break. Think of all the $15.00 machetes in the world. It is very unusual for one to break and it is very common for them to bend. Stainless steel breaks more often than it bends. Look for a cheap sword made of 1050 carbon steel rather than 440 series stainless.

Jeff, I don't think that the leson is to not buy stainless swords at all. Jerry Hossom has made several swords from ATS-34 that have withstood rigorous testing. I also believe that S30V would make a great sword too. However, I'd pick L6 or probably 3V over anything else. My point is, you can't dismiss stainless in large blades from this video. heck, Ross Aki used to make all kinds of machetes and parangs out of ATS-34 too!

Folks, don't buy cheap crap made of poor materials if you want to bang it around! Put shopping channel swords on display, or in the garbage. I think that's the real lesson here!

These guys knowingly commit fraud every single show they do, they prey on the uninformed, they certainly dont care, well, outside of legal liability, that buyers of their crap may get hurt in similar ways, why should it bother me when their own bad karma comes back and bites them in the ass. As was said, poetic justice has been served. Sure, i hope he's not going to die, but I hope it hurt.
