Hey guys,

I've been given the opportunity to buy a blade or two from "the river" via a gift card from my pops.
It's $100, and I originally was thinking a Condor Warlock or a Boomslang with an Ontario sp1. A heavy chopper and a med sized camp knife.

But then, (While looking through condor stuff, and reviews on the tube) I thought that I'd rather get a Dundee Bowie, and a Hudson Bay Camp knife....
But then I watched Ethan Becker talking about kukris on the tube and it made me want to scrap my other ideas and get a Condor HD kukri and an Ontario Kukri!!

Horribly indecisive!!
I'm now leaning towards the Warlock, and the Ontario Kukri...
Male mood swings... I should get it checked out.
What does the mob of forumites think?

(Side note, I already have the big Beckers, (the 2, 5, 9, & 21), also an Rtak2,
I've owned and gifted/sold an sp10, sp50, RBS9, Ontario Kukri, and CS Gurkha light. The kukri is the only one worth buying again to me)

Bottom line:
I'm trying to think of how best to split up this C note on "the river" for my money, with thick carbon steel, preferably in the form of choppers, that have HEFT for splitting, but don't totally suck at knife tasks.

IMHO if you are looking at Condor you are doing yourself a disservice by not considering the Moonshiner....personally, I'd toss just a few bucks with your gift card and get myself a Moonshiner and a HD Kukri.....a not too distant third option would be the Mini Duku Parang

Calm down and decide what you are really looking for.

I have to tell you that I like the Condor Moonshiner and the Hudson Bay. Would take the Moonshiner over the Hudson Bay. The Moonshiner is similar to your BK-9. I don't have a "9". Have both of the Condors.

I would go for the Village Parang for a chopper (since you have the BK-9) and the smaller Two Rivers Skinner. Should run you in the neighborhood of $90-$100 total. But you know how it is..... you keep getting more of them as time goes on. These are two good ones.

Or get the Condor HD Kukri and the Two Rivers. The Bushlore is a nice knife too.

I do really like the moonshiner,
I'm just getting hung up on paying nearly $60 (with the $5-$8 shipping), if it was closer to $50, then it'd definitely be worth it. As it stands (for the moment) in going with the warlock and Hudson Bay At $42 & change (it's kind of a Bowie anyway)...

My dad is wanting me to pick out a knife or two that I think he'd like. (He loves blades, especially bowies, baby boomer that he is, but isn't too hip on doing online research on blade designs, companies, steels, reviews, handle/grip material options ect, so he trusts my judgment.)
I'm going to recommend the moonshiner, and Dundee Bowie, and he'll probably insist that I have one two.
I'll post a very brief update if I can remember.
Thanks for the input guys!

Check out My Parang. I like the Duku Chandong. They are just over $100 at BladeHQ, but you can also find them for under $100 on Amazon and Ebay.

Hope you're satisfied with it. I feel sure it will do a fair job. I have the Kabar Cutlass Machete which is similar. It is actually one of the early choppers that I purchased before moving larger with the Condor Pack Golok and Village Parang.

should hold up fine... I've taken a dislike to anything larger than pocket size without an exposed tang due to having too many of them snap at the blade/tang junction while chopping, or eventually having the handle material either work its way loose or start splitting out..... hopefully this one provides you with years of trouble free use....I really like that pattern.

Based on what I've seen, the gen II series done by Maragni and Ontario are almost, if not the toughest sub-$100 blade in production...
Short of trying to baton an anvil with a steel hammer, it should hold up. :)
Not the most affordable, nor the very strongest, but it hefts like a hatchet.
Maragni said that this particular "bolo" style is the culmination of all his years of experience in knife making and martial arts training.
