A Poll on Scale material...

Lets see just where our hearts are when it comes to scale material, hopefully I covered this better than that steel one...

This can probably apply to fixed as well as folders, but I was mainly thinking about folders, lets see how it pans out!

My favourite is Sheep Horn like on my WD Pease, nice stuff!!!

I had to go with Man-Made.
I only buy "user" knives and I want them to withstand a lot of abuse. For my money, Micarta is about ideal. You can get so many different varieties, that any look can be achieved without sacrificing durability and stability of material.

If I were ever going to buy a non-user knife though, something just for looking at, handling, and admiring, I think ivory is hands down the most beautiful handle material there is.

Sure is a shame that my vote looks just as much a vote for Micarta (ugh) as a vote for G-10 (great!) Don't like the first at all, but the second is my absolute favorite.

I like the simplicity of the all metal (or all plastic) handle. For something dressier, it's hard to beat a nice piece of wood.

Had to go with the man made stuff. As Mr. Loveless stated to a fellow who wanted stag put on a dropped hunter, "Why would you want an inferior handle material on a superior knife?" Words of wisdom.

i voted Stag, but it was a close running with the other "natural" materials.

Did you forgot the wrapped handles?
I like the traditional japanese wrapping,
but a leather wrapping is also very useful!

Didn't forget, just ran out of thoughts! I guess I was Really thinking more along the lines of folders...but thanks for reminding me of my short comings...haha, guess Poll taking isn't one of my strong points!!!

The natural materials are more beautiful, but for sheer function and durability, G10, CF etc., get my vote.

BTW, skilled makers have done beautiful things with these materials.
