I prefer man-made materials (especially regarding folders) simply because of the better performance characteristics.

I love all of the natural materials, but my vote is for metal. I dislike all the other man made materials.

I think this depends a lot on the style, size, and purpose of the knife.

I picked Wood as my overall favorite handle material. I just love the way it looks and feels and makes every piece just a little bit different.

I also have a fondness for mammoth ivory and some stag, and I like pearl and jigged bone on small folders, but synthetic materials like micarta or plastics on Any knife just turn me off. Same for any artificially colored material like pakkawood or even giraffe shin bone. On the other hand, all metal construction can be quite attractive.

If it's not natural, it's not for me.

How can you vote for just one? Not all of us are totally fixated by the stag party like my friend PhilL. ;)

Para, I like them all as well, but we do down deep have one favourite and that was the purpose of this poor post...;) woe is me!

I have a weakness for rain-deer antler, but not for scales. Our traditional sheath-knives don't have scales, only kitchen knifes used to have scales here.:)
Sheath knifes used to be through tang only, with handles of birch or raindeer antler with spacers of birch-bark(if used).
The older I get the more I like the lokal traditional sheath knifes. And the materials used in them.
