A potentially scary situation - injury...

Good post. It was fatherhood that convinced me I needed to take more to the woods than a knife, a lighter, and my skills
Hell, drinking straight from a creek convinced me of that 25 years ago:barf::barf:

lmalterna, I carry ACE elastic knee supports, a couple rolls of ACE bandage, and a roll of sports tape. An air cast might be a good idea, but aren't those kinda big?
The sports tape also replaced all sizes of band-aids. Along with a trauma dressing, gauze, and some ointment and pills, that's almost my whole first aid kit nowadays.

Thanks for all the great advice fellas - I appreciate it.

The doc suggested wearing a brace with the metal suppots on the sides so I've got to go pick one of those up. I'm not too bummed about it.. yet.. as long as it somewhat goes away.

It def. makes you stop and think about the essentials for sure. Like siguy said, i wasn't that far away and my wife could have made it out and got help if needed but I like to think worst case. Had this been a few more miles away it would have taken quite a long time to get back. I'm glad it all worked out for the best and reminds me to take an extra look at what I have with me.
