I recently put eight new pieces of very special Lignum Vitae in the store (there are seven left). Last night I did a quick post to let you know. This morning I'm making a more formal announcement of their arrival. If you haven't read my previous post on these blanks, let me just say that they are, IMHO, one of a kind for this species. The picture below is a close up of the figure on these beauties. They are cut for western handles as the slab was only about an inch thick. Just click on the picture and that will take you to the page they're listed.

Is this true Lignum Vitae or Verawood which is now marketed as Argentina Lignum Vitae?

Larry,

All I can say is that I bought this at a very reputable lumber yard where it was labeled as Lignum Vitae. It certainly has the weight and hardness of Lignum and if you look at the grain on the side of my blanks it looks like the real thing too. I suspect this was a quartersawn plank. If you buy any and you don't like it, all my sales come with a no questions asked money back guarantee.

It has been brought to my attention that the new blocks I'm selling as Lignum Vitae may actually be Verawood, also known as Argentine Lignum Vitae. These two species are very closely related and have similar grain patterns, colors, smells, specific gravities and Janka hardness. They are so similar it is very hard to tell them apart.

I apologize if I've unintentionally mislead anyone and I'm posting this thread as a full disclosure. As always, Dream Burls sales are backed by a no questions asked money back guarantee. If you've already purchased any of these blanks and want to return them I'll also refund your return postage.

As a follow up, I've lowered the price on these pieces by $10 a block and refunded that amount to all those who have already purchased one of them. At Dream Burls, customer satisfaction is our number one priority.
