A proposition

Yeh that would be cool. A locked sticky thread that one would need to submit a request to be added to. I like it. I've been debating going orange for a little now myself. Just worried once its not longer a fun hobby that I will grow to dislike it. Enough off topic stuff before Bladite smites me....yes something like that would have my vote as well.

I was thinking the same thing. I have to re-up anyway, so it's only $10 more. My skilz are weak, though. I don't think I have any services worth paying for. :p

There is a similar thread going for dealers in Tech Support. RevDevil has put alot of work into it. If one of us committed to starting/maintainig a list of km/c/sp that do or are willing to do Becker mods, it would be apropos of that thread. Just one more perk of that particular level of membership. Maybe this ground is already covered in Maintainance tinkering & embelishment, but they could be kissing cousins.

This, of course, is all contingent upon the blessings of Mr. Becker and Spark.

ETA: It is my opinion that the Becker line of knives is an excellent platform for modifications due to the quality and price point. The hard work of knifemaking (accurate bevels, kick-ass heat treat, etc.) is already done. However, without Ethan's blessing, it is a moot point.

Will Spark like it?????......if SPARK likes it, I like it........If Spark don't like it then we all don't like it......It is his playpen.....

All best.....

Thanks for supporting the idea, even if it doesn't fly. Wouldn't be my first idea that didn't sprout wings. Just ask my wife. Course.......she was usually the one holding the shotgun.
All the best

a simple thought:

i'm the bladite. ethan likes it. moose likes it because it brings more people to the yard. guyon is guyon... he has kayaks. i don't know :)

if a given member is properly BF approved, *I* don't think there's a problem putting them on a "preferred Becker vendor support list"... which means, we create a list...

said list can be linked from multiple places, like the "List of Lists" and "the DB" and so on.

the function of the "List of Lists" is to prevent too many stickies. i hate them. i will fight like a banshee if i see more than 9 :) it's not too much trouble to have two clicks to get to info. imho, people should be more familiar with a few of those stickies which provide nice, cool information. i'd bet a stale donut that not all of you are familiar with what content is there. one more list is a good thing.

if someone makes a super duper good case for a perma-sticky, i get 10% ;) plus Ethan has to provide pony rides. or something :D

I think it's a great idea, and I think a list of Beckerhead recommended vendors and service providers would HAVE to be stickied on the main page, why wouldn't it be? I'm sure it could take precedent over a couple of the current stickies taking up real estate.

Bladite is "THE" Bladite. No argument there! I won't fuss over sticky or no sticky. I do agree that maybe there are too many but also agree that maybe current real estate could be trimmed. Don't want to see Bladite do his Banshee thing, although it might be entertaining. There is a HUGE amount of talent among the BeckerHeads and I just think it's a good thing for the members that live in this forum. Word might even get out in the other forums to check out the Becker forum for any variety of custom work.

Well, I love the idea.

Here is what I thought would be the best way to do it.

Start at thread, and let each service provider make one post in said thread, detailing what they do and give 1 example of their work. Prerequisites would include, be a service provider in good standing with BFC, and must show work in relation to BKT products.

We would leave it stuck for a while, but eventually, it would have to be archived. Permanent stickies don't last, if you look, none have. I don't feel that locking it would be necessary, as we can post a NO CHATTING rule, and then just move out what chatting posts are made, if any.

I will contact Sparkems to get his side of it, if E or one of the other Trinity's haven't done so already.

If so, we will get this started, and see what happens. Worst case, it gets unstuck and locked, then suck to page 2, never to be seen again. :D

Great Moosez!! Even if it get sucked into a black hole it may have served some purpose while it lasted. I feel like a real "honorary" BeckerHead bringing an idea to the table that you'all like!

Bladite in Banshee mode. Kinda like Bladite in Depeche Mode....only more entertaining

I would like a list, I know I spend some time looking for who makes what, and I'm sure there are people on here who make cool things I dont even know about lol

I'm new around here, but isn't this almost the same thing as the sticky in the "Sheaths and Such" subforum? If the rules there are good enough for one section, wouldn't it be good enough for all sections? Again new guy, so sorry if I don't understand allthe rules.

Except for w&c, you're correct.
