a Q about knives...... the horse is not dead yet

Dave I was wodering about your comment of chopping through fire extinguishers. Was this some sort of test?

I didn't personally do it, but some months ago I came across pictures of someone batoning a Swamp Rat knive clear through a fire extinguisher. It did a number on the extinguisher, but the Swamp Rat was perfectly fine.

There's also been a number of tests where they have chopped clear through concrete blocks with no damage other than the blade becoming significantly dull.

I'll give you the same advice I give to people looking for replacement pistol sights and asking, "Should I get regular or night sights?" My answer...chances are in a pucker situation, the layman will forget about the sights so it really doesn't matter. So, if you can afford night sights, get them. If you can't, don't. And if you're not a layman you should know the answer anyway.;)

Same thing here. If you can afford a Swamp Rat, get it. If you can't, don't. Because chances are you'll never need anything more than a BK but it's just nice to know you have a little extra if you need it with the Rat.

I found an older knife that one of my sister BF gave me long time ago when i were in HS still. Its a 6in blade of what i think is a 1095 steal. im going to play with it when i go camping next week to the desert.
