i really like the knife a lot it has a nice smooth action is very easy to open and a nice sharp edge. the more i inspect it though the more noticable the grind on the blade is becoming. so here is my question, if you are looking down at the blade edge first the grind on the left side of the blade is higher up the side of the blade than the grind on the right. will this be a problem later on in the life of the knife or is this something i need not worry about. any help greatly appreciated

Thats funny stubellos my Nighthawk came the same exact way, though it is annoying I wouldn't worry about it too much. At least I have never experienced any adverse effects.

The knives are sharpened by hand so some variation can be expected on the edge grind. We have been using a laser goniometer to measure the blade angles in the line so they should be ok. The main thing to remember when resharpening is to match the angle that came from the factory.
Hope this helps,

Hi Joe, You don´t happen to know what angle it is? I mean regarding the Nighthawk. I have one, not yet used and it looks like 40 degrees?
The blade is so thick that it will probably take a considerably long time to reprofile the edge to a more cutting suitability at 30 degs.
Take care

dePaul,

The older Knighhawks had an edge of about 60 degrees included. The knife was designed for heavy duty use and therefore the thick edge. We found out that most customers were buying it for lighter use though so we thinned out the edge some. The knife got a bit of a bad rap because when folks tried to resharpen it, it took forever. When you take a 60 degree angle and try to take it down to 30 or so, its gonna take a long time. We finally decided that despite what the knife was made for, if people wanted it for a diferent use, we better fix the edge! A newer one should be at our edge 2000 steeing of 26 to 32 degrees included.
Hope this helps,
