A question about the Cricket

I have a question and I'm pretty new to Spyderco (and collecting in general), so please bear with me. I've been lusting after a carbon scaled Cricket and I think I may have finally tracked one down. The issue is that its a serrated blade and I was really hoping to find a plain edge one. How easy would it be to swap blades between this one and another one? Also, do you think it would be worth it? My thinking is that sharpening a serrated S-shaped blade would be tricky. Also, serrated seems less ideal for everyday cutting tasks, to my mind anyway. What are your thoughts?

This is something of an indirect reply to your question, as I don't know how feasible a blade swap would be.

I have a stainless SE Cricket. It is an amazing cutter for something so small. I would suggest reconsidering the SE blade if you can't find a PE one.

Sharpening the serrated reverse-S curve is doable, but if you find it beyond your abilities or patience (I sometimes fall into that last category), a quick trip for factory resharpening works wonders.

The CF Cricket has always intrigued me, especially after getting the SS one. The thicker scales would make for an easier grip, but I love the slimness of the stainless one.

Thanks for your comments. You mentioned the CF Cricket is thicker; do you have any idea by how much? I live in an area devoid of brick and motar shops. The only think I have to go by are pictures. Any help is appreciated. Also, you mentioned you had a Cricket yourself. Is the blade attatched using a removable screw or some kind of non-removable pin?

I don't have a CF Cricket on hand, but it will be thicker than the stainless one simply by virtue of having scales.

The stainless Crickets have three screws/spacers, plus the pivot pin. All are removable.

You know, you could always try the serrated blade and then try the swap later if it truly annoyed you.

Didn't have a CF cricket when I took this picture.

The old frn version on the bottom, the latest edition middle, and almite on top. The CF is probably at least as thick as the almite.
