A question for any Survivalist on BladeForums.com!

You might consider a Gerber Big Rock Camp knife. Very reasonably priced and it should do the job. Also look at Condor knives

dont make fun of me, but the bear grylls laracord survival knife is great, nice high gring for filleing, and it can hack 3 inch branches well. it commes in at just about 40$ and its a great overall desing

Go with a mora bushcraft, for $15 I've done somethings to that poor knife that would make most men cry..... and it is still in one piece except for a tiny broken tip.

if you cant trust a knife that is $15 go with a Becker BK2 or an esee 5, but those will cost you some extra $$$

I could really get into that knife but the over use of the Bear Grylls thing gets me and keeps me from buying it
don't get me wrong Grylls is THE MAN, but i cant see myself in the back woods with a bright orange BG on my sheath.

If they make a standard plain Jane one i would defiantly give it a try

I was thinking buy several pieces adding up to $100. I have Gerber stuff labeled Bear Grylls (that's how I think of it lol) that seems just right. At the moment the BG Compact Fixed and the BG Paracord which I prefer due to its full fine edge. Heck I may even get the BG hatchet because it seems to meet all needs, easy to pack (thin) and large enough to hack with.

But perhaps a SEAL PUP, a Swiss Army knife, like the Hiker model, and then the BG hatchet.

There is a name for survival gear that is not with you when you need it.

Junk.

In most of America, most of the time, a sheath knife is junk.

A pocket knife is not.

Victorinox Farmer.

Hey he might be like me that always as a small pack on him 24/7. only problem with most SAKs is they are slip joint and a thin blade..... not the best thing if your life depended on it, but if it did it would help alot

That Boy Scout pattern was used by most first world armies for a century. That will do to be getting on with.

Get something that locks if you like. But get something with a saw. That little Vic saw is a huge advantage.
