A question for Buck 119 USERS.

That's a great knife, I have one of the 75th editions as well. S30V will hold an edge really well and does fantastically in highly abrasive media (cardboard, dirty hides, etc.) I recommend diamond sharpening instruments as it just makes it a lot easier. I've not had problems sharpening 440C (not buck's though) but I was at diamond stones by then too and most complaints on sharpening difficulty are from those without diamond stones and trying to sharpen high hardness steels.

I'm more of a hiker/woodcrafter than a hunter these days so I'm not sure how much you can beat on S30V but for any cutting tasks, it's a great steel that's not too bad to maintain. I think it responds well enough to a strop as well.

And I think it favors a toothy/rougher grit finish as well, or maybe that's me. It seems to do well at decently lean angles as well, so a thin, toothy edge... yes please.

I have hatchets, axes and kukri's to beat on.

This s30v responds well to my strop with flexcut gold. This 119 is sharper than my Case cv folding hunter.

I don't think it will have any problems with
bushcraft tasks.
