?

Is there anyone in the USA that works on these for warranty or repair? Or do they all have to be sent back to Russia?

hmmm! Not one reply. I guess there is nobody in the US to send a Shirigorov to for repair or warranty.

Does anyone actually use their Shirigorov?

If you bought it from Recon 1 you can send it back to them. Otherwise you have to send it directly to Russia yourself.

I don't believe there's any authorized repair dealerships in the states. I've owned a lot of them - Used most of them very hard. I've never had a problem arise, nor have I ever heard of a single problem/defect. Their tolerances and quality control is pretty insane.

Back when TNK was the only authorized dealer, you could send it to them and they would arrange the work to be done when brothers visited Blade every year. Seemed a little excessive IMO. Lately, I've read that Recon 1 is a good source for info on warranty work. I've also read that they may have certain common Shiro hardware, but its not advertised.

Shirogorov has forum and they have specifically stated that all warranty work will be done in their shop in Russia. I'd check with Recon 1 and find out the best way to ship it and see what turnaround times typically are.

I called Recon 1 and they said unless a person bought the knife direct from Recon-1 or Shirigorov that Shirigorov will no longer be offering any warranties on their knives. I asked them why and they said it was because of two reasons (the first one of which I do not understand) #1 because of fakes or repilics. which makes no sense to me for why would they offer a warranty on a knife that is not theirs?..and #2 because people lose the ball bearings while dissamebling (again weird) . Othwerise if there is any defect or problem with any of their knives they can be shipped only to Russia and they will charge a fee for warranty work.

I also asked if Recon 1 had any parts and they do not.

Well that answers a question for me.... scratch Shirigorov off my list. If it is to much of a hassle, its a hassle not worth having. Good luck getting your issue taken care of... OOK

Well that's frustrating considering it's nearly impossible to get a knife direct from Shirogorov and Recon1 does not have a great selection. If you want to buy a new Shirogorov you pretty much have to turn to the secondary market.

Do you have a link to that forum? I cannot seem to locate it anywhere on google.

Or do they have a phone number to call them direct in Russia? I don't know if they speak English but I sent emails and they don't answer emails.

I've been looking at a F95t myself, with some hesitation. What is the issue with your knife? Keep us updated with any developments.

That's pretty weird. According to a guy who collaborates with shirogorov the fakes are super easy to spot. So I'm not sure why they would deny warranty work just because fakes exist. Kinda sucks for everyone who bought from TNK. If the fakes are really that easy to spot they should have no problem weeding the genuines out and honoring their work. The only problem I have seen with shiros is on older models some had the detent balls rip out because they were so stiff. Havent seen that in years though. But for the money they want for them you should get a personal knife tech to give the thing a fluff and buff every time you set it down. Any knife over $100 without a warranty is ridiculous to me.

after several days, no return email from Shiro .

I was told by a member that they don't return emails sent in English.. Also I was told shipping coost are $100. each way . Without correspondence and no communication as to where, how ect to even ship a knife to Russia there is no way I am shipping a $900. knife. Plus then it would be a $200 added to the knife for shipping and any parts they deem to charge.

So my only chance it seems is to go to the Blade show and find Mr. Shirogorov.

Yes, it's expensive procedure, especially shipping to both sides. If the warranty problems are then customer pay only shipping cost - about 100$ through us to both sides.

It seems like a tactic to deter buying from middlemen and directing customers solely to Recon 1 to me, rather than issues of fakes or whatever.
