For those who already own and have used, at least a bit, the Starmate, which do you prefer: the Starmate or the Military? If you HAD to chose one over the other, which would it be? Please let us know.

we get to what's really important.

Except for a rare exception or two, I believe there are NO Stramate owners to answer your questions! Why?.....they haven't been released yet for delivery.

For "cutting through all the muck," the Military. Or maybe an Endura that can be replaced with fewer regrets if you really trash it.

A lot comes down to whether you like a hollow grind or a flat grind. And whether you like apples or oranges.

Right now I'm carrying the Starmate. It's a seriously "cool" knife, and as good looking as anything can be in black G10. Comfortable grip. Seriously sharp. Useful blade shape.

Perhaps a better comparison would be between the Starmate and the large Spyderco-Wegner. Both have hollow-ground blades with some belly to them. Here I prefer the Starmate for its pivot end clip, among other things. Both are very comfortable in my hand. If I was disassembly a dead herivore, I might prefer the Wegner for having more of a drop at the point.

And can I explain what can do, in suburban Los Angeles, with these knives that I can't do with a serrated hollow-ground Delica and a plain edge flat-ground Benchmade 825? No.

sorry to disapoint an ex-president..
i have one.. it is a great knife and as long as it goes for build and proformance i guess
they are about even.
so it comes basicaly to looks,
well..it's like choosing between a porche 911 and a ferrari 355.
it is a thuogh one.

My usual carry knives include an AFCK, Civilian, or Police. Do you think I'd find the Starmate "small?" I really like the looks of it, but the measurements are right on the edge of where I stop being interested - but I know there's more to a knife's size than measurements. How do the owners feel about it?

Let's face it; all of us knife knuts will always be left wanting. More knives!
