A question for the pagans/Norse mythology buffs here...

In an odd bit of synchronicity, on Sunday I read a short story (in a collection of Sci Fi war stories) called Bifrost Crossing. In it, Odin's warriors live a hellish existence moving from battle to battle, from the past to the future, from famous Earth campaigns to futuristic battlegrounds that are no less brutal. The protagonist realizes what is going on -- why he is haunted of memories of battles he could not possibly have seen (but did as he moved from battle to battle through eternity). When he rallies his fellow warriors and helps them, too, to remember, it triggers Ragnarok, the final battle at the end of time.

Glad you posted that Maximus, I was trying to remember where I had just been reading about getting into Valhalla and that was it. Sounds like a decent place to go if ya gotta go somewhere for eternity.

Please do remember what the Saxons did to Ragnar Hairybreeks. They threw him, bound, into a pit of vipers as a punishment. He died biting the heads off of as many as he could. Nice guys all-around.
