I really don't know of this belong here on this site or forum, but I was just curious if you guys prepare for things like the avian bird flu or natural disasters?(I know you can be prepared for everything) I know this might be for the survivalist type but....
Personally I have been thinking about this lately. Why? I have no clue. The more I watch the news or read the paper.(I know, they lie sometimes) I think I just want to move in the middle of no where in order to escape the chaos that goes on today.
The skills that I learn from here and from people have serve their purpose in the woods. I'm still learning though... But what about if you live in the city and you need to travel to get to the bush or safe distance? Lets face it, not everybody has the privillage to live in gods country. Which I'm extremely jealous of you guys that do.:D
I personally have enough stuff to last for about 3 weeks in my home. (Which this is for me and family. I like buying food and water in bulk.) And of course, Guns and ammo (only used as a last resort), which I go to the range just for a hobby and a job requirement.

What would do? And how do you prepare for stuff like this?

once again, I sorry if wasted your time and if this doesn't belong here then the mods should delete it.
Thanks

Get to learn your city. Knowing your environment is what it's all about.

That's it brother. Assess your particular situation. Assess the threaths you may face. Prepare for those you believe are most likely and have multiple plans to deal with it.

Living on Long Island I plan for Hurricanes, terrorist attack, and population panic. Avian Flu? Thatsa tough one that I'm still trying to figure out.

Build a bomb proof immune system.
Drink lots of filtered water.
Exercise every day.
Lots of Green vegetables that you wash your self. Wash it your self is VERY important.
get a full nights sleep.
There are lots of other things you could do. but these are IMHO the these are the most important.
The only time I have been sick in 10 years is when I got got hit on my motorcycle and my immune system was over loaded.

Okay I live in NJ which is pretty much a gang state now and the pines are at least 30 mins away. I have been out there alot in the 18 years of living here. (4-wheeling, camping, hanging out, and hiking.) I figured that I would say the heck with jersey and go to PA where I'm very familiar with that enviorment (Woods).
As for the flu panademic, I have some stuff for it, but not enough. I think I will just keep stocking up on water and other stuff to make sure. Me and the wife are considered essential personnel, so we might get the warning from our jobs, that it's in the area. (Or at least I hope so.)
