A Quick Poncho Shelter

Lol, so was my steel pot but I used it for a bathing and shaving basin more than once :D

Eh, just saying in my environment, the rain comes so fast that you only have time to put the poncho on. if you try to rig a shelter, by the time you're done, you'll be soaked through. So it's worth carrying both, so I can rig a tarp while wearing the poncho.

I was just poking fun man, I know what you mean...I spent several years in Tampa and Key Largo....I know how fast the rains can hit down there. You're right, out in the bush down there it is definitely good to have both even if it is to throw the poncho over your gear while you build a shelter with the tarp

It would be fun to try to rig up a poncho shelter while wearing the poncho...next weekend maybe i will give that a shot! It might be doable, you never know!

Make sure you have pics...hopefully with somebody else taking them lol. My camera woman has been slipping a little lately lol.

Sweet set up

I have been looking around trying to find a good deal on a poncho of the sort, just haven't been able to find one that I realy like yet. This just makes me want one that much more.

pull that thing tight!!!

If you were to face moderate rain or any wind that shelter wouldn't cut it.

There, is this better?

I will do that...I think this will be a pretty entertaining experiment!

Good, looking forward to it.

Nice setup..Love that camp.... I'm always paranoid about setting up between trees... (deadfall branches)

Lol, I live in a temperate rain forest...if I'm not between trees I'm either in someones yard or out on the river.

Just a couple of quick pics with my wife to give the shelter size some perspective, she's 5'-3"...lol, she's a lot easier on the eyes than I am. She was dressed for St Patrick's Day so the colors don't exactly clash but it is still an interesting contrast lol.

I was trying to convince her that I could probably make a shelter out of her skirt...but she showed absolutely no interest in actually letting me try.
