Got a chance to get out with Boomstick after work yesterday. He showed my a nice little trail, that was practically in my backyard. Although, it was a short hike, I think it was a MUCH needed get away for the both of us.

Doesn't look like anyone ever takes this trail, makes sense seeing how you wouldn't notice it if someone didn't tell you about it.The whole hike was along a little stream, that was just gushing due to all the rain we've had this week. Made crossing it, a little hairy sometimes. Also, some nice little waterfalls, that would not exist if it weren't for the rain.

Well, enough of that, here's some pictures...

Trail head, and a few shots of the trail:

Battoned me a walking stick with my little knife:

Came across an old stacked stone fireplace. There were also quite a few remnants of stacked stone fences or walls in the area.

Anyone hungry? Yes, these mushrooms were actually that color. Anyone know what species they are?

And some gear content for you guys. I carried my Camelbak HAWG, with a little kit I keep in it, and a Larsen knife(in otherwords, made by me;) )
Boomstick had his Fiddleback.

P.S. Sorry for the crappy pics guys, my camera is a little retarded when it come to taking pictures in low light, and it is always pretty dark in these woods.

Looks like a great area to play in. Those banana slugs were unsettling the first time I saw them!

Nice pics and looks like a great time.

Good to see other forumites getting together for some woods time!

Great stuff buddy, although after seeing the trail sign I was hoping for a pic of a rattlesnake :-)

Yeah, the banana slugs around here are pretty cool. I don't think I've ever gone hiking in the Santa Cruz mountains, and not seen one.

Cool pics.

BTW, a "quick romp in the woods" means something entirely different around these parts :)

thanks for postign the pics stingray. lol mike, I thought I was just having alergies the day we went hiking, I then later felt really bad...now I am pretty damn sick. I have a cold. at least it gives me a chance to sit at home and tie flies.

Darn you Boomstick! Yesterday, I started getting what felt like a sinus infection, which started irritating my throat, now I can't even talk my throat hurts so bad.

Looks like a good time.Glad you found a place to "romp" close to home. Pardon my ignorance, but, would your knife be the first one pictured, then the Fiddleback second?
Thanks for sharing,
Alex
