Just saw this posted from BladeHQ on YouTube; a quick bio on Sal Glesser and how he started Spyderco. I thought you guys might like this :)

That's awesome! I love stories like this. Start form nothing, or very little, and become a success. The part that saddens me is this kind of story is almost impossible now days. Today it almost always takes money to make money. Sorry to hijack, just made me reflect and think.

You were right. I did like it.

The people of Spyderco make their products that much more impressive.

What's not to like about the Glessers and Spyderco? They are the American dream. Good people making good products conscientiously.

Thanks for posting.

Thought about posting this earlier. This was extremely well done. Only bad thing is it wasn't long enough.

Sals design philosophy is the reason I carry Spydercos more than any other folder. He design knives the way I would, my favorite edc blades have his signature on them.

Interesting to hear him talk about design philosophy. For Sal it's the edge first, then the blade, then the handle. For Laci Szabo it's the handle first, then the blade. No doubt there are uncountable other methods employed by the large number of people Spyderco collaborates with. But no matter how many knives Spyderco makes, you can always tell which ones were designed by Spyderco and not just built by them - they have a style all their own.

I really enjoyed that video. I wish it would've been longer. I really like stories like Sal's -- start with nothing and become a success; it's the American Dream! He is a real class act!

Loved that video. I only carry Spydercos, for lots and lots of reasons. Sal is one of them! :)
