A.R.K. Review and food prep

Please post pics of your sheath creations. While the factory sheath seems like it will work OK, I find it too large. Thanks

I will. What makes it bulky is the square end at the top when it's worn around the neck. I'll narrow that out and it should ride nicely in the hollow of the sternum.

Hi Hale,

Please thank your son for his service.

BTW, our new auto is made with H1 and there is a special model made for the Coast Guard.

Thanks again.
Even the fan and lamp section of lowes didn't have good chains which I'd put on skin. Nothing stainless steel only. Everything with big balls and plated with different materials. Aged bronze with a hint of golden highlights looked amazing though.
The nice people at Spyderco suggested to check army surplus stores. Now I feel less smart for not having thought of that myself. :p

I carried the ARK with paracord (connected with breakaway tube) so far to get a feel.
If I carry it high (slightly below solar plexus) it doesn't show at all but I have to lift my shirt a lot to pull it. If I carry it lower it's easy to pull but shows when I bend forward a bit.
What do you guys think of carrying diagonal over one shoulder so that it hangs under the opposite arm? Completely invisible and easy to draw though sometimes it shifts a bit forward or backward within reason.
Maybe there is an even better solution?

In hand.

New sheath and trainer for ARK.

They look great!!!! What material is the trainer made of? Seems completely safe.
The sheath seems to be carbon fiber patterned Kydex?
If used as a neck knife will it stay in one orientation or does it tend to spin?
The standard sheath doesn't spin at all with two anchor point being so far from each other.
Would be cool to get your thoughts on how they compare.
Thank you.

The Mercharness is a good solution for concealed carry. Have you ever checked it out? http://www.moderncombativesystems.net/docs/shop_mercharness.htm
Thanks. That's a great way. Not even the necklace would show and it's impossible to be choked with it and no movement at all.
It seems to be a paracord in a figure 8 which many use (with thicker cloth) for shoulder support. So quite easy to do. Though not as easy as simply putting on a necklace but since it's for "always ready" you're not taking it on and off often anyways.
Thanks for sharing!
:D

Jens,

Thanks! The trainer is made from a polymer. The edge is crowned at 1500 grit, totally safe. The sheath is carbon fiber holstex, very similar to Kydex, but a bit slicker.

This sheath is not intended for neck carry. It's optimized for belt carry. Neck carry is a no go, since as you mentioned, it would spin.

The ARK ends up being a good slicer, so long as your food item isn't too long for the short blade.

I've had pretty good luck when carrying a CS Spike, by running another piece of chain through the sheath, around the body, to keep it from twisting around.
