A RANT about the Post Office and dishonest people!

BEAUTIFUL, again!!
Not only do Busses look great, nothing out performs them. :D

Wonderful mix of old-school and new-school in that set. Great proportions to boot.

Is that SFNO from the original run?

Just to add about the Post Office, I've always had trouble here in NYC. Everyone that has sold me a knife knows that I request overnight express because they get extra attention and it is harder for them to mess with and not get caught. Just my 2cents ;-)

I had a knife stole from the post office my mom sent to me while i was in Iraq. It was insured and when I went to file my claim they said once it goes outside the US they can't insure it.

That kind of BS happens all the time:thumbdn:

That's not what my post office says, they said they can insure it up to I think $560 or something like that... thing about that is if you are somewhere like Italy, and you declare how much it is, they make you pay about 30% tax on it, now that's crazy. So we do the FexEx with no insurance and bare min of like total value of $50 and they always get it.

It was being send to my APO address and they said once it gets to the APO in NY its no longer insured because it goes to the army mail handlers from there and is no long eligible for insurance. Apparently some soldier who handled the mail from the APO in New York to my APO address in Iraq stold it. You have to write on the customs form on the front of the box what it is and how much its worth, so they know exactly whats in the box.

So did you return his package? He wasn't even concerned that his package was missing? You should have opened it, like he did yours. I wonder what it was.

Sweet! Although that SHSJ appears to be a phony. Send it to me immediately for verification.

Nice knives.

I missed that it was a Post Office box. I was thining it was one of those stacked mailbox systems in the newer suburb tracts. Glad this worked out. Its shameful that the guy just assumed it was his though.

I'm sorry to side track the conversation but I've been wondering about the issue of insurance. How would it work for international sales. Let's say one of you guys post me a knife with insurance. After a while I tell you I didn't get it. Do you claim the insurance? If so, is the US post office going to give it to you or are they going to say the Oz post office lost it and it's not their problem?

Just wondering if anyone knows how that works.

I would say that in that case the USPS would issue the refund as they sold the insurance and they issue it to the sender because the sender bought the insurance.

My understanding is that with international postage, the recipient country carries the package in their country for free.

I.e. in your example above aust post does not get paid in any way for carrying a parcel sent in the US.

I guess one way around I might be use a private parcel company like fedex, you pay for it in aust but with a pick address in the US.
I presume you can do that, because some of our suppliers at work get return parts picked up from us in aust but they organise the shipping in the US with fedex.

This is why many avoid INTL transactions. Nothing is written in stone. It's PO against PO and the seller and the buyer are left staring at each other.

As for not doing international shipping on this basis its no different to doing domestic.
The sender still has to collect the insurance and return it to the buyer, because the sender is the person who buys the coverage.
I.e. of you sent a package to someone elsewhere in the US and it got lost, you'd (i.e. the sender) still have to collect the insurance for them and return it to them via pay pal or whatever means they used to transfer the funds to you in the first place.

The fact that it is international doesn't really change the fact that the sender has to do the running around.
