A rash decision?

For some reason, I have been bitten by the CRK bug, hard. I now have a large micarta 21, an Umnumzaan, and now a large 21 plain.

The thing is, I want more. I have these 3 Striders sitting here which I hardly ever carry. The polar opposite of that is anything from CRK. Every single day, there is at least one of my CRK's in my pocket.

Since I don't seem to carry the striders, would it be a rash decision to trade them off for even more CRK knives? Think I would be happy, or regret it? It's actually a tough decision to make.

It is hard and at the end only you can decide what would suite you best as well as your life style.

I don't think so. If you find that you miss the striders you could easily trade or sell the CRKs and get the strider back. but I don't think you'll miss them too much ;)

You must have originally bought them for a reason, so I'd agree with wolf5391 said and keep your favorite. They're still fun to play with and show off at knife shows. But you're really jumping to a better class of knife, you know. Striders and CRK's are worlds apart. If you gotta have that G10/Ti feel, go Hinderer or at least a Zero Tolerance.

You'll regret it.
Which is why my wife always says "No!!!" whenever I talk of trading knives now.
As she says, "You'll just end up buying it again for even more money."

She's very wise.:)

Trade the Striders for CRKs if it'll make you happy. Don't do it all at once though, instead trade them off one at a time so you minimize the chances for regret.

Traded off all my Striders for CRKs..NOT one regret ...NOT one day...Striders knives IMO are over rated and their customer service has a great deal to be desired.. TOO big for their britches.. An opinion of course.. I have owned up to 25 Striders.. Mostly SnGs all great blades..Very durable.. But as with some CRKs knives.. demand dictate price fluctuation..
I have dwindled my knives to ..Sitting in the pouches to the ones I carry ...That is where you see the true need/want of a knife. Love Striders.. Have owned my fair share..But...It is what it is...
CRKs are a sutied choice for me now.. just my veiw on your situation..
No disrespect to strider and or any strider lovers. i still would buy a Strdier and put it in my EDC rotation..If the price where right..in a heart beat..But for now.. I stick with what I choose to carry.. 5 sebenzas in My EDC rotation..

AGAIN..merely my veiw.. Meaning no disrespect to anyone invloved here..
Hoping you solve your issue..

I just recently traded an XM 18 for a CRK, no regrets.
Oh I was hesitant at first, for many of the same reasons mentioned above, but eventually moved forward.

I have tried every other brand out there and just never quite feel the same satisfaction carrying them that I do when I carry any of my CRKs.

I personally like the Strider SnG design(CC and DGG especially) and carry mine more than the Sebenza. As stated earlier they are different knives . I am not a collector, so if a knife is not being used and I don't see where I will be using it in the future, I sell it. Life will go on just fine if you sell them, but we will be of little help in the choice.
Off topic-If Chris was to make a medium Sebenza, I would be carrying that the most(hint hint). The small is just a tad small and the large is a tad large and heavy. A medium would be just right.

Keep what you REALLY love, sell the rest. I love my CRK's.

I sold all my Striders except one.

IMO, they just don't really overlap. I think my current ownership is 4x Strider folders and 8x CRK folders. I bought the Striders after thinking it through and the thinking hasn't changed, so they are keepers, though unless something remarkable comes along, that's all I need/want. CRKs keep growing on me, but going slower and saving is for me better than selling something else that I made a good decision on buying.

If Striders are so overrated, why did you have so many? I owned a SMF myself, and even though I had wanted one for a long time I quickly realized that it wasn't for me. I quickly sold it and certainly didn't buy any more.

Rash decision:confused: What are you talking about man, you don't even own a small sebenza yet:p

Im on the other side of the coin. For a while CRK's were the only knives I had in my collection. Sure it was great but I decided I needed a
little more variety. I still have 3 sebenzas but now I also have an XM, Yuna, Stider DGG, and a Murray Carter. I think you should go over
all the knives you own and just pick out the ones you find you really like whether its a CRK or Strider.

I think you should carry a Strider every once in a while and if you dislike one more than the rest then you should trade them. You will probably regret getting rid of all you Striders, especially the DGG SMF. Right now I carry my Large Sebenza 21 more than my SMF but I would never get rid of the SMF because it is a bomb proof knife to have.

This is the CRK forum, right? Might skew the answers...

I have two unique large Sebenzas, a small Micarta, a Strider PT, and a Strider SNG. I carry the PT the most, followed by the small Micarta and the SNG. Of the two uniques, I carry one occasionally and never have carried the other. I like the CRKs better, but like using the Striders better. Make sense?

I'm pretty much an office and suburban guy, though I have used the SNG for camping.

I would keep the Striders.

As good as steak is, you can't just eat steak all the time. Some days you may want chicken (Strider), or ribs (Hinderer), or BBQ (ZT). Of course, after you’ve eaten a really good steak (CRK), all you want is that steak, for a while. ;)

The advantage of steak is, it comes in many forms, so multiple cuts of steaks create variety. You can have steak for breakfast (Plain 21), lunch (micarta) and dinner (Umnumzaan). You can eat steak with taco's, but you can eat chicken with taco's too. You can eat a steak sandwhich, but you can have a BBQ sandwich too.

The point is simply this, steak and eggs make a great breakfast, just don't have all your eggs in one basket.

Just get rid of them. If they are not a regular in your rotation and not part of a minty fresh collection what is the point of having 100s of $$$ sitting about doing nothing ? Sometimes it can be though to let stuff go but think about it seriously. I just moved on a few watches and knives having been in a similar position. I have entire collections of knives that I will proably move on in the coming months so a couple of striders is a no brianer. :p:thumbup:
