As an admirer of Barlow Pattern knives I have long had a Schrade manufactured Mint Russell Barlow Commemorative issue released to Commemorate 100 years of the popularity of the Russell Harrington Company Russell Barlow pocketknife. 1875 - 1975.It was reproduced to the original specifications the only difference being this has brass rivets and stainless <non corrosive blades>.To maintain the tradition the original hob was used to reproduce the solid nickel silver bolster with the famous arrow R--> trademark. 12000 were produced and the first 2000 of these serial numbered in leatherette cases sold back in 1975 for $10 more than the next 10000.

I have just been fortunate to obtain #00001 first one produced and still absolute Mint. These always have been rather scarce to obtain as they were popular when released which makes the first even more special.

Very nice collectible. The #1 serial number is great. That is a nifty carry case too. Nice to have the whole shebang.

It would have been extra nice if they would have busted out a few with real saw cut bone.

Well done Larry on securing the #1 serial number, also thanks for adding the info for the
production numbers, here is apic of one I had delivered Friday, came in a regular brown Schrade box, no lettering and with suede type pouch. No serial number.

I own a couple of these knives & I'm quite pleased to have them. The Green River knife Works is about 60 to 70 miles from where I live. If you would ever consider parting with number 1, I would be more than thrilled to talk about a price. Otherwise, I think your owning number 1 is an honor. Thanks for sharing your priviledge.

Larry, You got serial #1? WOW! That's HUGE! And of course we wanted to see the photos, we're all knife nuts, right? ;)
That Russel was made by SCHRADE?

Thanks Bruce, the Russell Barlow Commemorative was manufactured by Schrade back in 1975.....the collector I obtained No1 from was a "stage Door Johnny at the factory door" who lived in Walden/Ellenville areas for over 50 years and he managed to obtain a number of Serial No 00001 knives through the years....I have obtained several 00001 Schrades from him in recent years....<he also knew all the Schrade top brass which I gather helped him obtain these rarities> he has a magnificent Schrade collection. I'll bet he does. ;)
BTW, Nice looking knife to boot. (I like Barlow Knives as well.) :)
