• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Just picked up the Oct issue of Backpacker. Its the suvival issue. Loads of well written articles including--

how to get out alive- escaping natures worst predicaments

Where trouble happens-- a guide to the riskiest tails, and how to hike them

the ultimate checklist-- What Yosemite rescue ranger Jeff Webb, veteran of over 200 SAR ops, packs in his pack

As well as some real life survival stories. Its a great read, I reccomend you pick up a copy.

I got mine and it is their second survival. I bought extra copies for my son and nephew. BACKPACKER magazine is a great magazine, Good gear reviews, nice trip information to reasonable locations, survival and camping hints, recipes and so on. OUTSIDE sucks big time, a yuppie Aberchrombie and Fitch crowd magazine. they are obsessed with Everest articles and going to exotic locations to go surfing and ski.

I agree. Backpacker is a great magazine. This issue is FULL of great stories, and gear reccomendations, and survival instruction.

I am a subscriber to Outside as well. I agree with you. I love reading about the exotic surfing spots though. It has become quit pretentious in the past few years.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
