A real pry bar!

I've been looking at all the mini prybars and took my own shot at it. I had a Vaughan 5-1/4" chrome vanadium steel prybar and a gave the tips a quick grind on the belt sander. I wrapped the the center with 1/8" black braided coard. It fits nicely in an old messenger bag cell phone pouch for a sheath. The tips aren't shaving sharp, but they aren't dull either. Cost of the prybar was $3.19 at my local hardware store.

cool... i've been meaning to get my hands on one of those too..... i like the p-cord wrap....

I thought the cord made a simple off the shelf tool look kinda "tactical." The tool is so small it only took ten minutes to wrap the handle. I didn't show the final knot-- I just ran the ends into the nail pulling hole near the strainght end, tied a knot and fused it with a butane lighter.

I wanted a small prybar I could carry in a pocket, or in the sheath with my multi tool. Inspired by some of the little Atwood ones (which I can't afford) I bought a cheap one and sawed it down to the size I wanted. Then I drilled a lanyard hole.

Great ideas guys! Yes, I too love and long for a few of the Atwood pieces, but I am not quite at the point where I can afford those sort of things. My Becker TacTool usually accomodates most of my prying needs around camp and such, but the TacTool is a little too big for everyday carry (ORLY? YA RLY!). Your projects have jump-started my imagination. I shall look for a small pry bar today while I'm out and about on lunch.

Square up an edge on one of those and I bet you would get nice sparks from your ferro-rod or flint. I like the idea of tucking one in the pouch with my Leatherman.

I just ordered those countycomm bars to go with my BK9! That way I won't have to break it a la Clifford Stamp.

I've been looking for a small pry bar/tool, and that above link looks interesting..has anyone ever ordered from them?

i bought those prybars from countycomm and they're pretty nice. i also have a atwood bug out bar and the large one is comparable to it in "sturdiness" but is quite larger than the atwood. measured with a simple tape measure the atwood seems to be about 5/32" thick. with my bare hands it is unbendable for sure. the large prybar is about 1/8" thick and is also unbendable. the small one seems to be 3/32" thick and i can kinda feel like i'm bending it but it doesn't look like i'm bending it. i dunno if it's just me thinking i'm stronger than i really am :o but it's quite sturdy in it's own right.

lastly i have to say i have ordered from countycomm before and they are always top notch in service and shipping speed. looks like a good deal though i haven't shopped around for small prybars so i really wouldn't know...

I am almost done with mine from Ace hardware. Cut it to 4 inches and drilled a hole for key ring carry. No more temptation to abuse a knife or a screw driver. :D Used fine sandpaper, then crocus cloth, then finally polished it with metal polish. :D I'd include a picture but we cannot cut and paste, not worth hosting.

Country Comm? Good outfit, IMHO. I've bought several batches from them and never had a hitch. Their little LED lights are great. I first found County Comm while looking for a small AM/FM/SW radio for hiking-- they have a great one and it has a non-hokey LED light built in to boot.

I go there every once in a while to see what new toys they have come up with-- you never know what you will find. They sell to small govenment organizations, SAR groups, law enforcement, etc, so you will find all kinds of stuff for hiking and survival.
