Ok everyone, heres the saddening tale :(

Once upon a time, i wanted to buy a case hobo knife. So i went on ebay, and i bought one NIB. It took more than 30 days to get home, because the sender misspelt everything ( :( )!!!! lol, so anywho, when i got the case ( LOOKED SUPER SEXY!!!!!) i was opening and closing it, then i started to use the fork, because its soooo cool!!! but anyway, i didnt use it on any food, or any moisture or anything, but now when i open the fork, its really stiff and it appears to be grinding steel!!!!! so i was ULTRA  :( :( :( BLAH!!

So basically, im either sending it back to Case XX, evven though i just waited a hella longtime, to g et it, and send it right back!!! BLAH

so if you guys wanna suggest anything, im ok with that, i just felt like sharin my story.

I'd try cleaning it out of any obvious dust, lint, or other gunk with rubbing alocohol on a cotton swab ( dont use too much ). Then just put a drop of fine oil ( Rem oil, Breakfree, any good gun oil ) in the pivot area and wipe up the excess, work the fork open and close then wipe off any resultant "gunk" that comes out. Good luck - Charles

dude, its BRAND NEW, and its grinding steel, little filings are coming out

In My Experience, traditional pocket knives made in the traditional manner tend to grind more than ones of more modern design and manufacture.

If its brand new and doing that, then send it back to Case. I have used the above "receipe" to fix alot of pocket knives and switchblades at gun/knife shows when guys ask if it should be sent in. Usually they just need a drop of oil and they're all better ( remember you have metal moving against metal ). Good luck -- Charles

but when i was first opening and closing it, it was smooth, now its really rough, and the knife works fine.

if i oil it and it still doesent work, will case still fix it under waranty?

I dont really know Case's warentee ( or more to the point how they apply said warentee ), but I wouldnt think that cleaning and oiling a knife would void anything. Pocket knives are just like anything else mechanical, they need cleaning and lubing; but if youre concerned about it I'd get ahold of Case and see what they say about the warentee, and any advise they have for you. -- Charles

ok,i took some hilti oil (amazingly fine) and i oiled up the fork, i must admit, your right, but its still grinding and pretty stiff, i figure that something was squeezed too tightly. Im sending it insured and all that jazz, how long do you expectill get the knife back????

do you think they will fix/replace it?

im just shooting the ****, im kinda pissed but i guess that stuff happens. I oiled my spydie and it works great now, i hope they just keep the hobo under the waranty

Dont know how long it will take, like I said I've never dealt with Case on warentee stuff, but would imagine they will be pretty quick.
It's too bad that a new knife seized up that quick, hope they take care of it for you -- Charles
