A sad revelation

I am looking through Spyderco's discontinued line and am realizing how many awesome knives i have missed out on either from age or just not being overly excited about higher quality knives till the past year or so.......

So as a tribute (and a lesson to me) what are some of your favorite discontinued spydies?

I was in the exact same position about 2-3 years ago. I had a couple knives and that was it (PE Endura 4, SE Para, and a Buck 110). Economics did not allow for additional knives as life was paycheck to paycheck for a long time (far too long IMO). I was lucky enough to save up and started buying some of the sprints that I had missed. I did not get all the ones that I wanted, but then again I am happy and grateful to have scored the ones I did. A forum member here A.P.F. was selling a couple knives and I really, really wanted some. He was kind enough to hold one for me for almost 2 weeks until I got paid. He is good people. There are lots of good people like that on here, all you have to do is keep your eyes peeled.

I was lucky to get a mini Manix from a friend here on BF. It's in perfect condition too, carried a couple times, but never used. I absolutely love that knife, it will never be sold, evar!

couldn't agree w/you more , In fact I prefer it to all subsequent manix models, it is a tank!!!

Original Large Lockback Manix.
ATR
Dodo
Lum fixed Blade Tanto
Gunting
D'allara Rescue
G10 Byrd Crossbill
Lava
Renegade

I was looking through my catalog from 2004 a few weeks ago and saw the full sized Fred Perrin Fixed blade. I's love to have one of those beasts. Wouldn't mind having an old full size manix and a Dallara too.

Funny story, I bought a original full size Manix at a gun show, then traded it online for a Leupold scope, then realized I missed it, and shouldn't have let it go. Couple years later, I happened upon a for sale post by the same guy, so I bought it back.

For me it is the Wegner, then the Ocelot, followed closely by the Lum Chinese in green.

Thanks and its awesome here on the forums, i probably spend more time here than i need to :-)

Hmm, lots of you guys miss the mini manix. I had one for 3 years and I don't think you guys missed much with that one when comparing to the current manix 2. Maybe from a collection stand point, but it's not a user when comparing to something like the cento 3 or endura.

I miss the ronin and lil temp. Both of which were made when I was in school and had no cash.

Yup I agree..... I LOVE the chinook 1 and 2 which Spyderco stopped making back in 2003 I believe. If only I was into knives back then I could've gotten them brand new for their regular prices instead of having paid double/triple for the ones I have now. There are also quite a few other non-spyderco brand knives that I would've loved to be able to get brand new that were also released around that time.

Seems like I'm late to the party.

salsa
meerkat
jester
Q
copilot
shabaria (for looks)
pegasus
navigator
...

they made quite a few smaller cool knives that would be appropriate for certain carry situations, but today they focus on the ladybug, dragonfly and kiwis (inferior imo except maybe the kiwi)

I disagree on the lady bug. That was my first spydie I got 16 or 17 years ago. Its a wicked little knife if you use your keys as a grip as the handle is too small.

Wasn't too keen on the dragonfly after using it for a few months and ended up losing it due to the crappy frn clip they used to have.

Large Manix (Waiting for the Lg Manix2 in S90v)
Have a couple orig's,(am happy about that) but it is a tank many missed out on.

Starmate in super steel.

No idea what's holding that up?
Was told tooling was an issue, then was told its a colab issue?
Either way, a Sprint in CF/S90v needs to be made.
Maybe Roger at KW can get this one through.
Tried once, maybe its time to try again?:D

To date my favorite spyderco is the ATR. Ever since I saw a review on it I've been lusting over it. Gotta pick one up when I get the funds together.

Khukri
Barong...everytime I see one of the two online I die a little
Each time. Wish I could have score one when they were in production .
