A Sad, Surreal experience today

Thanks for sharing and everyone should see this up close. It makes me think why we say "humane" treatment in referring to good treatment as we humans don't exactly have the best record in the animal kingdom.

My father in law and his unit liberated Dachau. He said they tried to give food to the people and they would not take it because they were scared it was poison, since the guards did that to them.
After seeing this today, I cannot even fathom driving/marching up and seeing the people inside the fences...

I visited Dachau in '95. I was stationed in Augsburg at the time. I felt fortunate that a survivor was there to tell his story. It was very somber and humbling experience.
It amazes me that there are holocaust deniers out there. It was a very sad day when I found out that my own grandfather was one of these deniers. Luckily, I didn't find out until after his passing.

I also went to Dachau, back in '85. It was a cold dark rainy day and they clanged the gate closed behind our small tour group. Truly a sobering experience, and quite surreal considering the beautiful scenery and friendly people of southern Germany. Hopefully the people of the world will never forget the evil tragedy of that time and place. In our modern instant information based society our collective memory seems to be getting shorter and shorter. God help us if we are condemned to re-live that history.

After hearing stories that have been passed down in my family and learning about this in school it is terrible to think that people are capable of such intense hatred. Even looking at these pictures is surreal and heartbreaking. I can't even fathom what it would be like to visit Auschwitz or any of the other concentration camps. Thank you for sharing.
When I was about 12 years old, the American Legion post that my Dad belonged to showed films taken during and right after the camps were freed. I was stunned, but learned to really appreciate our freedom, and that it was worth fighting for. It was one of the reasons I enlisted in the Marines, while so many others were getting deferments or running off to Canada.

I think this everytime some person or group gets branded as an outside, someone who doesn't belong, someone who doesn't deserve to be here, an 'illegal alien' (we're not greek, 'alien' is used to imply non-humanity, as fundamentally incompatible). It's sad how many exclusions are considered normal - it's a slippery slope.
Unconditional love.
Birkenau was the one that really got me, with the tracks, the industriousness of it all.

Thank you for taking the time to remind us of how much we (the generation that has not known the atrocities of War as those before us) have taken for granted, especially as Americans over these short decades since that occurred.
It also should make it overwhelmingly apparent as to why the Jewish people (the greatest Friend the U.S has in the world today) will never suffer that to occur again as long as they can do anything about it.. :thumbup:.
I'm so thankful I was brought up in a home with Parents that understood, and taught us that God made a promise to Abraham.."I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee.."

I have been to Mauthausen, it is scary to what people are actually capable. I really don't get it how people can deny it.

Brainwashing...a calculated, intentional design to breed hatred, and allegiance to their cause in the minds of those who know nothing differently, because those doing the brainwashing bind their subjects in abject ignorance of the Truth to further their own evil intentions.
On that note, I am so thankful for the incalculable Sacrifices of all the Servicemen and Women from so many Nations who have given, continue to give...are willing (right now) to give.. their very lives to deliver peoples bound in oppression, and it is so fitting that this is posted in a forum who's Owners understand what that is all about, and that's why they take care of our Soldiers!!!!!!!
