I finally got around to finishing a small knife for my son. He has been wanting me to make him a knife for quite some time and he is a pretty happy kid today. He helped design the knife and helped me in the shop while I was working on it. He also hand picked the stag for the handle. I left a little room on the handle for him to grow so it wouldn't be too small for him next week. Giving knives away is just plain fun, but it is especially rewarding when it is my son who couldn't be happier.
Feel free to let me know what you think.

Steel: 1084
Handle: Stag
Guard: Wrought Iron
Spacer: Micarta

And the point of it all.

Nice knife and a great person to own it. My first son is due October 1. I already have a bar of damascus and some mammoth ivory grips set aside for his "birthday" knife, but he probably won't get it until he's 30 :)

Nice knife! Too funny, his look is classic, "what's the first thing I'm going to cut up?!"

Thanks for the comments guys. He is pretty happy. He cut up some vegetation and whittled a little and the knife started to patina a bit...he wasn't expecting that so I had to get out the flitz so it could look new for a little longer. I tried to explain that the patina is unavoidable and it adds character, but I can't blame him for wanting it to stay new for a few days.

brettn- I know everyone says it, but enjoy it all because they grow up fast. You blink and suddenly he will be 7 and stoked to get a knife.
