Hey all. second post here. If Ive posted this in the wrong forum I apologize. Here is a Knife Hawk set I tried to "antique". Was going for a look from the days of muskets and trappers, When mountain men were admired, not looked down upon as rednecks with knives,(Ive had a bad day:thumbdn:)

I though this was the place to get some feedback, as I figured you all have an eye for such things. Cool sub-forum!!! Im just getting into slippies so I may be around:D

Thanks for looking!! (sorry pics kinda crappy!))

Nice set. I think you may get some more feedback from the 'hawk aficionados in their forum but I've left a link in the Traditional Forum so you can get comments from both.

Thanks Blues!! I wasnt sure where to put it.;)

Very nice! knife details?

Its a blank from solingen I ordered so long ago I dont remember where from. (a magazine I think) Cheesy I know but the steel is surprisingly good. I recently did most of the work on a bow project with it and it still very sharp.

7" blade 11 3/4 overall. Full flat grind convex edge.Hickory handle, Nut a bolted on and sanded smooth. I was going for streamlined but rustic (nuts and bolts) The patina was earned naturally until I was happy with it then enhanced.

That knife blade came from the Dixie Gunworks catalog.

German-made, and some sort of high carbon steel.

That page I looked up does look like the add I got it from. Except mine came shiney, with no edge and the handle wasnt all black. Thanks for finding that!

Jantz supply has a blade that looks the same as yours. It's the Appalachian Bowie.
