I'll be driving to Illinois this weekend from TX and stopping along the way at the Gateway Arch as well as the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL.

At BOTH places I will be unable to carry my knife. In the entire state of Illinois I will be unable to carry my North American Arms .22Mag Pug. Ugh, I hate traveling.

Don't ya'll just feel naked when you have to give up your knife and gun for a while. I mean I am able to manage without my pistol, but I don't know how humans manage to stay alive without carrying a knife on them!

Ok, off rant, you may now return to your regularly scheduled program.

You know I feel your pain, however, carrying that small of a gun is next to impossible to spot. I am of the mindset that unless I am going somewhere with metal detectors or with security that pats you down then I am carrying. That's just my opinion and I believe probability and the law are on my side so you have to weigh the consequences yourself. Rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.

I hate it.

I fly to Indiana every year and I hate the feeling of no gun and knife.

Concealed carry reciprocity is a pain to keep up with as well. Depending on where I travel I can carry in my home state and my destination but not allowed to carry in the places I pass through to get there.............as far as the knife I can't stand to leave it behind at all. Drives me nuts. At the very least I will carry a SAK classic on me. If it gets taken away, im out $8.

States rights. I'm all for that.
States get what they wish for. Some states just simply do not get my money or time.

I strongly advocate playing by the rules. Less heartache in the long run.

Fasten your seatbelts folks. When the current group of knuckleheads get through with our country, these will be the good old days of freedom because we won't have any then.

RAT PACK 67

I generally don't go anywhere they don't let me have a gun and/or knife, except government buildings if I have to.

Although in times past, if I was forced to go somewhere where I was not allowed to carry, but there was no metal detectors or armed security, I carried anyway.

bummer man.. i start get a little paranoid if i don't/can't have my knife...:thumbdn: it's a very uneasy feeling... like SHTF and i can't do anything about it...:o

I do my best to only travel through states that has a reciprocal with Alabama on my permit. Illinois = Communist State. :D

I have only had to be without my blade twice, and man I felt like I didn't have anything on and everyone was staring at me. Horrible feeling that is.

Ha we're in nj. The mr's breaking the law by carrying an izula. Bc its a fixed blade. I brought the folder I despise bc of the law and I didn't want some prick stealing my rc3 out of my luggage. Hell I wanted to buy booze last night but forgot you can't buy anything in the supermarket here! So I went w/o. :(

I have to agree that when I go without my knife I feel like I left the house without my pants.

On a side note I live about 10 mi. north of Springfield and can tell you that the Lincoln museum is really cool. Make sure that you check out all that it has to offer. It has a holigram show that will just blow your mind.

Sad part about Illinois is all the cops that I have met there think the laws for concealed carry are insane also. We do the Illinois Tactical Officers Association show every so often and all of those guys think the public should be armed! They tell me that the whole state is governed by what happens in Chicago. 99 percent of Illinois is like Alabama....good old country farm folks, but the idiots in Chicago make sure they have to live under Communism also.

Is there provision within the law for putting a weapon beyond use?
Ie. if the weapons were locked within a container in the trunk of your vehicle, and were therefor unavailable to you? I EDC a fixed blade, but it is fastened into it's sheath with cable ties, and in a pocket within the main part of my bag which is zipped and padlocked. If I am asked 'Is there anything sharp in your bag, sir?' I would reveal it, but I doubt a solid case could be brought against me under UK Law, because I have taken steps to put the knife beyond use, and I would not carry the bag into a bar or to a foodball match.

Sorry to be ignorant here, but what exactly is the law in Illinois that prohibits carrying a knife?

At the risk of self-incrimination, I'm pretty sure I've carried both fixed and folders through Illinois.

The only time I don't have a knife is on a plane.

You guys should have seen me yesterday. I was in one of our out county offices that's inside of a courthouse so I couldn't take my knife in.

I had to cut open a box and I wandered around for a good 90 sec's until I found something to cut it.

I literally walked in circles for the first 30 of those 90 seconds because I didnt know what to do...
