A short story about you using your kershaw/ZT to save a life or for survival

What is the moral of this story, being the story that no owner of a proudly overbuilt tactical blade has a story about surviving or helping others survive with the blade?
Something along these knives are an innecesary marketing contraption...or something like who cares...or something like there are many LEOs and so that on a regular basis do experience survival sotuations in wich these knives do help, but they don't post here...maybe non of the options? all of them? other options?
I own a zt 0300 and a 0100.

Every time I've needed something sharp to help save someone's life, $2 disposable trauma shears were the best tool for the job. Doesn't stop me from buying, owning, carrying, using, and enjoying my Kershaws and ZTs, but knives aren't exactly lifesaving tools for the vast, vast majority of people.

It was included in my options. Every option is included in my options ;)

This is funny to me: when the OP started the thread, all it got were tong in cheek responses, and below those responses, a "no, no stories". When I point that out, there are no stories still, but people is like "why are you pointing that out".

There is an old tale, I would like to share with you.
It has many variants, ever changing through the ages.

Two scammers and liers deceived the Emperor of the land. They promised him the better attires posible on earth, full of precious stones, gold, exotic fabrics, beautiful colors. Also, they were magical. Only smart people could see them.
In this point, the story changes. In the middle ages, the clothing would only be seing by those who were legitime sons of their fathers. If you were a natural son, as they used to call it, you would lose all your titles, a threat even to the emperor. The modern versions goes with smart people.
And of course, all would claim to see the fabulous garment, and describe and rave its perfection.
The Emperor was the first one, so he would take the charade even further, and organized a parade.
He would walk among the crowd totally naked. All would scream about the beatiful clothes, and cheer the Emperor.
But a small child pointed its finger to the Emperor, and shouted: THE EMPEROR IS NAKED, JAJAJAA!
All looked at the child, and started to laugh.
The Emperor got red in the face, and very very ashamed.

What's the moral on that story, and how it's related to this thread?
Maybe there is no moral?

Who would you punish? The scammers, or the child?

Wich role do I represent in this thread?

I own two zt. How does owning those zt reflect on me and on my postings on this thread?

i see ur morale, sir. i always carry a knife. part as my job for LE. had to use it on 5 occassions. but i posted this thread for a little of both seriousness and tongue and cheek. my morale is you should always carry a knife (preferably a zero tolerance.) whether its to cut a shoelace, a hose, a seatbelt, a bag of candy. my grandfather always had a knife with him. my father, not so much. a knife is a tool. guys and gals who are proud of there tools, take care of them. and pimpin them out is not a bad thing. it shows that they are proud and take great care. I sharpen mine every week, whether they need it or not. by pimpin a zero tolerance/ kershaw, your saying this is my knife, whether you are cutting a toy out of the store package, a seatbelt, a letter, or fishing line. EDC a knife, you never know when you might need it to carry out the rest of your day.

Wait, is this a test? because I was told there was not going to be a test.

My Mini-Cyclone and Leek have opened countless boxes and cut many cables. If I weren't able to get my job done, I wouldn't get paid and my family would starve. Thank goodness I always carry a knife on me. :)

Oh, and yesterday, the Leek was used to slice open a Tombstone. Specifically a Supreme Tombstone pizza. It was good and I was sustained.

No no no don't change subject. Subject is "when a zt helped you survive or others survive". Answer to the subject, never. At least, so far.

OF COURSE CARRYING KNIVES IS GREAT. I LOVE KNIVES. I OWN 2 ZT. I CARRY TODAY A BENCHMADE ONSLAUGHT, A YOJIMBO 2, A VIC RESCUE TOOL, AND A LEATHERMAN MINI.

I will carry tomorrow my 0300 just in honor of this thread.

And I swear I will go to the movies, see that new one of the fairy people in the forest with my family, and by Neptune's beard I will buy skittles for them all, skittles to rule them all and in the darkness bind them, and I will open them with my ZT, wich I will call Black Glamdring.

The moral? Skittles are a biotch to open, so make sure you got your knife on you :p

Hahahaha, that just made my day! Thanks for that!

On a serious note I think that the members here are a tiny slice of the population, and probably not representative of the overall population either. If you are interested and are truly curious if a Kershaw/ZT, or any knife for that matter, has saved someone's life I don't think you'll get it here. Surely someone has used one to save themselves or another person, and maybe someone here actually has. That isn't to knock these or any knives, it just isn't likely you'll encounter a large enough sample to find someone that has. However, I equate it to being prepared. Better to carry a knife that could save you or someone else than to be sitting there totally screwed wishing you did have one.

Plus I just love knives so I'm going to tote one around anyways even if it doesn't end up opening a Skittles bag. :)

Sticktodrum used one to bust out of a closed elevator. Theres a thread about it search for it if you want.
I carry one to calls and have used it for duty (0400st for a few years now a 0360skd). Performed many various tasks, cut clothes, hoses, seat belts, etc...However if I need to cut a hole in a roof for ventilation I'll use a k12. If I need to extract a person from a wreck I'll use the J.O.L. , break open a door I'll use the key to the city, a haligan bar, or an axe. It just comes down to using the correct tool for the correct job ( square peg round hole).

You're obviously new here and don't quite understand the mood yet. Read more, post less and learn how we have fun over here. Lifes too short to be so serious. We'd love to have you around.

The moral of this story is you are not going too find to many people who have used a ZT for "survival" or a emergency, trauma shears and a BM rescue hook suits that scenario for me.
