A short trip in the wild with the BK9, in Finnmark, Norway.

I keep trying to not open this thread. Fail.

I know I'm not going to heaven, but if I was, I'm sure it would look very similar there. Damn.

You get your BK10, Loke?

Moose

You never know, Moose, perhaps someone can smuggle you through the pearly gate?

I'm sure the knife is on it's way, I live in a remote part of the world and post takes its time. If the customs has decided to take a close look it will take even longer. I'll give a sound when it arrives. And dont worry, I order every single piece of gear from foreign websites, and not one single item has been lost in the mail so far, so I'm not worried.

hey, a fellow norwegian!
i'm from Nordland myself.

nice pics, looks to be great outdoor oppertunities there.

All I could think about when I saw your pictures is.. "I hope he brought the flyfishing rod... I hope he brought the flyfishing rod!!"
Up there you have some great Garyling/trout waters, right!?
I'm slightly south of you and as you say the darkness is upon us this time of year.. I hope that I have some trips taking my Beckers out into the wild left until snow covers the ground here i Sweden...
Nice pictures!!

Fly fishing season is sadly over, and there's little good fish in the freshwater areas. It's all about saltwater fish now, cod and pollock mainly in my region. We do have a lot of good trout lakes, and when the season is right, the river has plenty of big salmon.

Moose: I got the knife today! I'm very exited, and I really appreciate that you gave me the opportunity to be a part of your contest. This BK10 will not be a shelf knife, and I can assure you that I'll bring it along on my next hike, along with my camera. Thanks a million.

a Winter in Nordic lands could be interesting...

i live North enough to have an idea, but really, more so (Mores0 !!!) would be *interesting*

snow, ice, rocks, cross-country skiing. birches. love me my birches.

a BK9 makes some of the large Sami knives look small :> probably good for harvesting Reindeer?

actually, is Reindeer yummy? or what!

Reindeer is very yummy. I prefer a reindeer fillet served with mushroom stew, potatoes, cowberry jam and broccoli. But I know the Sami ususally serve salted reindeer steak, which is chopped up and boiled together with potatoes and carrots.

Either way, you cant go wrong with reindeer (unless you don't eat it of course, then you can go very wrong).
