Barb and me were setting around the house relaxing from the errands we had had to run today.
The phone rang and for once I picked it up and it was my nephews wife Polly.
Polly said there had been an accident and that Robert my nephew really needed me.
Polly went on to tell me that her daughter Courtney and Robert's daughter Nikki had been in an automobile accident and that Nikki didn't make it, that she had walked West instantly upon impact.
Polly's daughter Courtney was driving and went over a dip in the road that she had driven many times before and lost control of the car and hit a tree.
The girls friend Stephanie was with them and was also hurt and may lose one of her legs.
Stephanie was in surgery the last we heard.
Courtney has the usual scrapes and bruises but at this point seems to be otherwise alright physically.
My nephew and Polly have been through a lot with these kids with the mine, your's and our kids situation. Robert's ex-wife isn't a real good role model or mother for the kids.
Nikki had straightened her act up, she wasn't that bad a kid to begin with, just needed some good parenting, and was doing good in school and had made a lot of decent friends. Nikki had an excellent future ahead of her and had made some goals for the
future.
Courtney is going to have a very hard time dealing with her sister loseing her life that way and we all know that she is going to be blameing herself. Robert and Polly didn't want to tell her until she had been stabilised so that she could be better able to help her healing along herself.
The whole family needs all the smoke and prayers everyone can muster as not only did one of their children lose her life the car they were in was the only one they had that was decent and running that they could depend on.
Barb and me are going to take our truck over to them tomorrow so they won't have to depend on anyone to get them where they need to go.
And Barb and me are both affected by this because we have both lost a son on motorcycles. Barb's son Lodi was 16 and my son Tommy was 25, this brings back a lot of sad memories.
We can all use all the smoke and prayers we can get.
Forgot to say that Nikki was just 16 herself.
My heart is on the ground, first last Tuesday and now this.
It would be very easy to be angry at the Old Ones right now although I know They did not will any of this to happen.
It's never easy loseing a loved one, it's worse I think loseing a child no matter how old they are.
We're supposed to walk West before they do...............
