Properly heat treated tool steel, a basic design (round on one end and pointy on the other), a lack of embellishments, a deep leather scabbard and you have a small, light weight knife that will last you the rest of your life.

Forged from 5160 steel
Hand sanded finish to 400 grit
Tapered tang
Blade distal tapered
Walnut handle with some figure
Overall length: 7 1/2 inches
Blade: 3 1/2 inches
Weight: 4.2 oz
Riveted leather scabbard

Yes, your design includes everything needed in a small knife. I admire your work (and have one of your $65 knives).

v. nice 'package'. are your forged blades a little thicker than your stock removal ones ? would it be better to get a stock removal one, if more of a 'slicer' was preferred ?
thanks, roland

Roland;
This one is just 3/16" at the thickest and tapers down very thin at the edge. It will slice as well as a 1/16" blade. The forged vs stock removal argument would be the same as a Ford vs Chevrolet argument at a Nascar race. Strong opinions on both sides and I wouldn't want to be in the middle.

Gerry,
Looks great to me. Straight forward and clean. Great description, "round on one end and pointy on the other "....

That is a damn fine looking knife you've made. Very simple design with all of the right lines and no extras that aren't needed. It looks like it would be right at home on the trail or in the hunting camp. Would love to see more makers on here with tapered tangs on thier blades.
