It's been said, but not nearly enough... Many of you professional, and semi-professional bladesmiths that give their time and advice to those of us who really aren't deserving of any of it... those of us who dawdle in the art of making a sharp instrument that resembles a knife humbly thank each and every one of you... I personally, fully realize that each of us that enters the field, is potentially taking business away from you, any person who attempts to make a proper knife, whether we succeed or fail, is one less person to potentially buy one of your blades. We also run the risk of selling a less than top quality blade to someone, and souring them on the field of custom made knives. You also have to deal with "keyboard warriors" who will act as though they know everything in the world, regardless of how many times they are wrong. i have learned so much over the course of my adventures into this art form, and still have much much more to learn. So, i humbly thank each and every one of you that has offered a word of advice, and even criticism, to help me and every other visitor to this wellspring of knowledge, and for the guidance to help me grow in something that i really do love to do.

Ditto on the thanks for the help. However, anyone who enters into the realm of making blades is more likely to appreciate the better blades made by the pros, and never ever complain about price again!

I third the thanks, I started to look into making knives about 4 years ago, Stacy Apelt set me up with the materials to create my first knife free of charge. I had every intention of beginning on it the day I received it. Life got in the way and 4 years later, I pulled the package back out and will be starting on my first knife. He could have told me to kick rocks when I recently contacted him about this but is still willing to help. Upstanding group of people at this forum, and I learn quite a bit each day I read more and more.

Also would like to say thanks for the help on actually doing knife making things, but also on the technical information.

Im glad to hear that some guys actually appreciate the info that some give out and put it to good use. We all still have something to learn.. Its a great craft, very rewarding..

+1. Big thanks for the advice and the patience as well. I've shown some folks at work some things that I have made and then gone on a few members sites and shown them the unreal work done and said, "This guy gave me advice on this blade shape", or "This guy spoke with me on the phone and helped me with HT advice".

It's like being able to ask a pro baseball player to help you with your swing.

Big thanks and for every bonehead out there there are dozens that are grateful for the help.
