A small gripe about Cold Steel

I found out last week that this weekend I'm gonna be going and helping to clear a semi-perment camping site and decided to get some new toys to use while I'm there. I called Cold Steel directly to get one of thier two-handed machete's and a mini-bushman, cause I couldnt find another place that had the two hander. Called early on thurs mourning and placed a credit card order assuming (I know, I know)that it would be shipped by fri and with UPS I'd get it by today or tomarrow cause I've had other things from that area appear in less time. Well today I called them to get the tracking number to see it's progress, lets face it fellow knife knuts love to watch thier knives slowly make thier way home. Well I get this lady that states rather snippyly that they had'nt shipped it yet, I asked her what the holdup was and she said they had 5-10days to get it to me and they were still under that time frame. Something tells me that I aint gonna be using my new toys to clear the area. Oh well next time I'll see if I can arrange for an online dealer to order something and get it from them.
 
cold steel has some of the worst customer service.
some of their products are ok but i would never order directly from them-ever try and return something from them?:mad:
 
Well I'm never gonna buy ANYTHING directly from Cold Steel again. I have no problems with the actual product's but the companys actions leave alot to be desired. I called again today to see if they shipped out my order or I was just gonna can the order and go somewhere else. Well they did ship it out on the 25th but they threw me another curve ball it wasnt shipped by UPS but by some other company called american package express that I've never heard of. I know this sound like a minor thing but I paided for UPS I know a couple of the drivers that come out here and they know where my place is, I like UPS they've always got me my packages promptly and without damage. I dont know this new company and I dont like changes to things that work, and if Cold Steel is going to use these people then they should state it in thier catalog. I just hope this isnt a slow boat to china type thing where I'm gonna be waiting for a month or two to get my order. If you want Cold Steel knives and other items my suggestion is to go to an online dealer that will be glad to get your buisness and will give you what you pay for.

If her response was just "snippy," then she was probably the Head of Customer Service, cause they have have some people answering the phones that pretty much sound like they hate their job, hate Lynn Thompson, and above all, hate you for calling! :rolleyes:

Just when I thought I couldnt get any more pi$$ed about Cold Steel's treatment of my order, the company that they had used to ship it apparently dumped it at a local post office and it'll be here in my mail box brought to me by the post office. I dont know if I should bother to call Cold Steel and bitch them out or maybe send a letter to Mr. Thompson via snail mail to voice my displeasure at the way that this was handled. I have advice for anyone wanting to order from directly from cold steel: DONT DO IT !!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, that'll work. The woman you talked to the first time waits all day for a chance to tee off on people like you (you know-paying customers! ). Been there, done that. geegee
 
that sounds just like airborne express. I know you said they used a different company, but their MO is very similar. Smoky Mountain knife works uses airborne express, and though they are supposed to make a delivery attempt at your adress before giving it to the post office, I never seem to be able to catch them in the initial attempt, which just tacks another day to the delivery schedule. but god help you if the package requires a signature, if the post office can't get a signature on the first attempt and you can't make it to the post office on a weekday, it will be some time before you see your package.
