Hi folks, I passed 1k posts a week or so back, but I'd just recently moved and I was really busy. Now that things have calmed down I intend to follow tradition and post a giveaway. I've gotten a lot of great info from this community, not to mention won a couple giveaway's myself on Bladeforums. Time to give back.

The Prize is a new, unused Maxpedition H-1 Waistpack in Foliage Green.
I got a pair of them on sale 2 for one and never found a use for the second.

This is a good little pouch. My first PSK build was based on one of these.

It has a large 6 in x 4 in x 2 in main compartment with a draw cord closure and rain flap. On the side is a holster for a light, multi-tool or similar objects. Like all Maxpedition products there are myriad additional pockets, slip-pockets and retention loops. You can wear it on a belt, or affix it to other gear with 3" tac-ties.

So, here are the giveaway rules:

Describe briefly what you need this for and what you would put in it.
(Or if you intend to re-gift it, who you would give it to and why.)
I don't need a big essay, but having a clearly stated use in mind will probably improve your chances.

I'll let this run for 1-2 weeks depending on entries received.
Then I'll draft my Mother into looking over the entries and picking a winner using whatever judgment criteria she feels like.

Well I am in. I would make a PSK/day kit for my significant other. I would put gear that would be sufficient for a day hike/ lost in woods overnight situation. Thanks for the chance!

Thanks for the chance buddy it's exactly the type of pouch I have been thinking of getting. I very rarely carry a full kit anymore and often just shove a few items in my pockets, this altoids fire kit being the main item. I think they would be perfect to use with that pouch !

Thanks for the chance. For a pouch like that, I would pobably make a little car kit for my wife to have in her vehicle at all times. She is slowly being converted to a knife and wilderness person, but since she has my kids with her more than I do, I think that would be the best use for me.

By the way, very generous of you!

Thanks for the opportunity! I would use the Best Glide waterproof containers. This pouch will hold 2 of them. I plan to make a PSK with it.
PSK contents:
compass, whistle, paracord, firestater w/tinder, small BIC, Micra, Photon I, signal mirror, basic fishing kit, upholstery needles w/bobbin of nylon thread, gaff hook, water prification tablets w/filter straw, fresnel lens, safety pins, pencil, space blanket, waterproof paper, duct tape, Ziplock freezer bag, aluminum foil, snare wire, basic first aid kit, and money (at least $40.00 in $5 and $10 bills) Probably forgot something.

Id put my GPS in it. Then fire starter, insect dope, and compass. I got lost labor day.Barely made it back to the car before dark. Chiggers found their way to my feet.I have a dozen bites in one square inch. Devils they are.

Hi Joben....mighty generous of you.

My first thought was that I would re-gift this neat little Maxi to my mom. She just turned 76 a couple of months ago and still gets up at about 5 am to take her dogs on a 3 mile jaunt. Of course, living about 25 miles away, I worry about her out there every morning, so I would turn this into a simple, light-weight PSK for her to easily grab as she heads out the door every morning for her walk. Among other things, it would be stocked with some very basic first aid stuff, a small pepper spray, a hand warmer, a whistle, a couple of safety pins, a rubber band or two, a pen, a small led flashlight, an SAK Classic, and some of her favorite hard candy (in case she's in need of a little sugar boost).

Thanks for the opportunity, and good luck to all!

Steve

This would be the perfect little kit bag for my son (3.5 years old) when we are out hiking or in the woods.

I can get him started on carrying essentials - probably just simple things for him like snacks, flashlight, gloves, etc. for now. As he gets older, we'll add to the kit.

Thanks for the contest! :D

Thanks for the GAW!

1. Let me see, first off I would put a Swiss Army Knife in there. I always have a more heavy duty knife with me. But, there are alot of times I could use a SAK with tweezers and the like. I can't tell you how many thorns and cactus spines I get stuck with while working on the fence at the ranch.

2. Next, would be some water purification tabs. This day and age you can find an old bottle or can anywhere. With the tabs and one of many water sources I could have something to drink.

3. I always carry a lighter even though I do not smoke. But another source of fire would be good. Espcially one that doesn't run out of fuel! So I would put a ferro/misch metal rod in there with a chunk of fat wood.

4. A packet of Tylenol and Asprin.

5. Some para-cord wound up neatly.

6. A small sharpening stone, what is the use of a dull knife right?

7. My Sure-Fire Backup LED Flashlight and an extra battery.

8. Maybe a copy of the New Testament!

Very neat opportunity! That's a nice pouch. If I could restrain myself from keeping it (ha!), it'd be a gift for my father in law. He's a avid fisherman, but only intermittently an outdoorsman (he was a boyscout growing up, but doesn't camp now). I'd like to get him a simple belt kit setup so he could be taken care of should calamity ensue while he's on an excursion.

Contents wouldn't be terribly fancy I suppose, but would include a SAK, large firesteel, fatwood, roll of jute, small roll of duct tape, band aids, neosporin, a whistle, bic lighter, paracord, small flashlight, and some water purification tabs.

Congrats on 1000!
Fantastic give-away!
I would use it for work to hold my notebook, phone
and all that stuff I need during the day.
Keep misplacing stuff and wind up calling home
to see "honey, did I leave my xyz on the table again?"

Also would be great for my quick hiking trips
with my kid. He would get a kick out of being able
to make his own "kit".

Then I'll draft my Mother into looking over the entries and picking a winner using whatever judgment criteria she feels like.

I've always been very impressed w/ the amount of gear even the smallest of Maxped pouches hold- the H1 is one that I haven't tried though, I think I'd give it a go as a shoulder pouch (add a 1" strap) for edc carry- phone, small camera, light, fak, multi-tool, small fixed blade, little cordage, few firestarting bits, etc

of course sporting a W&SS patch :)

congrats on your 100th post (just recently hit mine- I have a small giveaway going as well :D) thanks for the chance!

Mike

Congrats on 1k!!!
Please don't include me in the give away, allthough it is very generous. Just wanted to say Congrats.

As someone else mentioned, I'd love to put together a PSK for my wife.

That also looks like it would be perfect for holding 2 of my son's small bottles and his favorite matchbox car on the side. Tactical child-rearing.

Count me in and thanks for the cool give away.

Grats on your 1000 posts!!!

This pouch would be perfect for my 10 year old sons first PSK.
He is getting into hiking with me and really enjoys it.
I plan to get him an Izula for Christmas and this pouch would be a great start to his hiking gear.

Here we are on our first trip.

Congrats on the milestone! And thanks for the chance.

I would regift it to my 5 year old, who is really getting into being a little woodsman. He just got his own leatherman, so he could put that in the side pouch. Then in the main pocket he could carry his travel poncho and compass and a bit of cordage. These are the items he likes to take out with us a play around with building shelters and such. And any left over room he would more then likely fill with rocks and other items he forages for. Loves taking flowers and such back for mom.

Here he is from last weekends outing. He built the shelter all by himself. He was pretty proud of it. Must say so was I.

This guy (look at how scruffy and cute he is):

The only time I really get to spend with my brother anymore is during hunting season. We don't have much extra cash for hunting supplies as life seems to get in the way (everything he uses is hand-me-downs and can't even afford a license so I go for deer and he goes for rabbit), and he doesn't have a survival kit so I would be making him a hunting kit- small Sak/slippie, rope, light, chapstick firestarter, fatwood, firesteel & lighter, small game bag, wire- maybe some other small items.

Thanks for the chance and say Hi to your mom for me!!!

i've been looking for a medium sized pouch for a PSK.

just something to get have the gear out of my pockets and not in a larger pack. needs to hold the PSK basics, fire starting, water treatment, etc.

i'm not really a fan of stuff around my neck, so haven't bought into the neck knife with mini PSK kit concept.
