Here is something different. Mace has been heading the blacksmithing shop at the Guilford Art Center in Guilford CT, and has invited me there 2 years running now to teach a hammer making class. It's a blast and Mace is a most gracious host as is the Guilford Art Center. Well Last time I was there Mace had mentioned one of his Customers had expressed interest in a hammer, so we got to talking and figured we would make one up together as a collaboration under our new "Four Hands" banner and here it is. The head is 1045, Handle is Curly Birdseye Maple if I remember correctly with Silver inlay with Japanese inscription "Shower of Sparks", metal wedge is titanium. It bears both my maker's mark, Mace's along with his JS, and the 4 hands logo as well as 3 flowers to follow the Japanese theme underneath. I am honored to work with a guy so skilled as Mace, this will for sure not be the last time this happens. Here is the Coop photo! and an awesome photo it is!

Beautiful job, guys. It certainly gets my vote for Safe Queen Hammer of the Year!

Hey... Is that the one you just sent me!? Awesome! :-)

Seriously... awesome stuff guys. And I can't wait to get mine from you Sam... even if it has an old stick for a haft.

how could you not want to pound steel with this hammer?! Or anything, for that matter. Freakin wicked, if you ask me.
I'd like to see a follow up thread showing the first knife this 'shower of sparks' produces. Wonder how many knives this hammer will forge over its lifetime?

I watched 'The Immortals' last night, kinda funny how you mentioned 'nut cracker'- if you saw that movie, you'll know what I'm talking about OUCH! This hammer looks pretty similar...

It WILL crack nuts...:D

Thanks for the comments guys!
It's is always a blast to work with my friend Sam.
