Your spyderco collection is gonna get smaller now. I started off with spydercos and now the emersons are taking over! It's cool though cause my girlfriend likes spydercos!

One of my first knives was a mini CQC 15. Once of the most ergonomic knives I've handled. However, the PM2 kicked it out of my pocket for good. your mileage may vary.

I had a black delica for about a week before I was finished with spyderco. It now resides in my woman's purse...lol

I think you will find most Spydercos 'dainty' in comparison to any Emerson. You should certainly 'feel' the difference right away.

A little secret about Emersons---I'm a big crusader for advising first time Emerson owners of the break-in period and that it may need a few tweaks out of the box. When new, Emersons EVOLVE over time into the gems they are. Be patient and remember this. Most Emerson bashers have either never owned one or didn't allow it a sufficient break in/bonding period.

You ordered a very good, versatile, tough knife. If you have any doubts upon receipt give it a month of use.....

"dainty"?
Some Spyderco knives may be but Spyderco can hold it's own with any brand.

Well said. Nothing wrong with Spyderco, and they have a metric ton of models to choose from, from dainty to tank like.

Nt always, my entire collection of every knife has grown. Emerson knives made up about 15 or so of them.

Yeah. Dainty.

Just what I said---"most," "some," whatever.... A lot of their line is kind of "delicate." They have some heavy duty ones as you go up the line.

I'm not bashing Spyderco; who could? They're good knives. Just that very few appeal to me. To each their own.

Ya know...I probably post on that subject a little too much...but--

I only wish people were somehow made aware, even if it's by Emerson itself somehow, that their knives do require a little time and use before they reach their potential. IMO, moreso than any other brand in general. I can see how some first time owners may not have the patience for that...it's understandable. I think if more people knew that going in, however, there would be a lot more satisfied customers and not so many bashers out there.

I think most Emerson owners know what I mean. Emersons have a personality, and nuances, all their own, but new buyers are never warned about it--.to give the knife time and maybe a little tweaking, etc. will be required; that the knives just get better with time...

This was waiting when I came home from work.

First thoughts? Nice knife. Solid lockup, centered blade. Fits my hand as well as my PM2 does.

Opens a little sluggish but that will easily wear in. Also plan on a little light rubbing with 1000 grit on the G10. Just a tad bit grippy for me.

Over-all I am pleased. It will give my PM2 some competition for carry outside of work.

Gorgeous blade you got there. When I first got into high quality knives, I went through a bunch of companies knives to see what worked best for me. I've carried Boker, ZT, Benchmade, CRKT, Gerber, and others. My Spidie Para2 travelled with me for well over a year, until it was kicked outta my pocket by my first Emerson, a CQC-15 with stonewashed blade. That was a birthday present to myself, and spent every day in my pocket until my next birthday, when I bought myself a CQC-7AW, also with stonewashed blade. That's been in my pocket everyday since, about a year and a half now. I've split and batonned wood with both blades, and thoroughly trust them with my lives.

Recently, I have been trying to carry a fixed blade too, and have also become a huge fan of Himalayan Imports blades. My Mini Micro Bowie is currently on it's way to meet a fellow forum-member in Washington state for a checkering job, but otherwise stays attached to my hip. However, even that beauty of a blade has not been able to kick my CQC-7 from my pocket.

If that's not enough, my artist/forum name was inspired by Emerson and the edge that is put on all of his knives.

How many lives do you have? Lol!!
Anyways, I agree. Originally is was a Benchmade guy, then I moved to Spydercos before finding my love for Emerson knives. Which came after I bought a CQC-15, but I have since moved on to a Journeyman (which I have carried nearly everyday for over 2 years). Every now and then I try something different but I always fall back to my Emersons. Part of it has to do with the wave feature, I'm addicted to it.

hahaha droptyne apparently my phone thinks I'm a cat!

The wave is genius. Not to mention that satisfying "CRACK!" as you rip the knife outta your pocket! Very rarely do I pull an Emerson and open it by hand; it's no fun
