A squirrel came in the post today!

French knives are very extreme: either very ornate and fine workmanship or the rustic rough-diamond approach (Cognet, Opinel et al) I like these styles and I like the no nonsense simplicity of such knives, always rewarding to use.

Had a friend of mine recently describe this new Cognet of mine as a Kalashnikov knife, and I can't find a fault with that statement. It Appears to be a superb knife that you can rely on and put to as much abuse as you want and still get good use out of it. The price is more than fair as well!
 
Great looking knife, and looks superb with that forced patina. I like knives like this because they just beg to be used and are often really fun and useful in day to day work
