A strange knife grip trend

Those handles look ok but not that appealing I would prefer a smooth micarta or some light grooves. I do not like paracord handles either. The only time that I buy a paracord handle knife is if I like the knife design and it is only offered with Paracord and then I make a micarta handle for it.
 
I'd have zero interest in a faux cord wrap handle.

This exists because factories can't produce hand wrapped knives fast enough.

I don't think the Williams design falls into this category though.
 
They are interesting, I think the first one could have been done a little better, but it's a picture. Without the knife in hand, couldn't say if I liked it. It doesn't look terribly comfortable as a user tho. I like the second better. I think it's too symmetrical, though, too perfect. If there were one or two slightly off-center twists, on each side, such as you might find on a cord-wrap that was actually used(excluding epoxied wraps), it might make all the difference.


For technical merit, they get a 4.3,
For artistic impression, 4.7. ALMOST there, but not quite.

Haven't used one and an interesting idea but to me it really seems like a solution nobody was asking for. At the same time though it's sold out so many mall ninjas snapped this thing up.
 
Not a fan of paracord wrapped handles (though, in fairness, I think I've only tried one); so there's no appeal in the mimicry.
 
The more I look at the Parascale, the more I like it. It's not like you really have enough cord to do anything, if you remove it, but as additional grip, which is never a bad thing, it works. And I appreciate the imagination it took to come up with a way to make a cord-wrapped folder handle without turning it into a fixed blade.
