A Sunday Walk In The Woods

Brian my same thoughts have already been posted here throughout this thread. I will re-emphasize the pure joy a dad feels from spending a day outdoors with his daughter or children. I am biased to daughters though having two adult daughters myself. :D

I will simply say Thank You for the wonderful thread. Again ....

Thank you Dave, I am glad you enjoyed the post! Yeah one of mine is an adult...chronologically anyway, still a bit of maturing to do, but I am proud of her and how well she has done. She still asks about going hiking with me, I may drag her out her next off day :)

Great pics and times I'm sure
The lil'un is growing fast

Thanks man. Oh yeah, it flies by a whole lot quicker than you ever imagine it will those first few weeks :)

Is the "crater" located on Signal Mtn? I am originally from Chattanooga and my parents lived on Signal Mtn after they retired.
Smoked oysters with lime juice and hot sauce applied liberally while still in the tin, then one or two oysters on a triscuit, one of my favorite snacks. And Starman was one of my favorite movies of all time.

No, crater lake is over at Prentice Cooper, on Suck Creek Mtn. I'll have to try that lime juice and hot sauce

That's one lucky little girl. Probably the most awesome thing in these posts is you sharing your passion for the outdoors with the next generation.

Those canned oysters, man can something look so disgusting and delicious at the same time.

Awesome. This post makes me look forward doing the same when my daughter is a bit older.

Thank you, I think I am one lucky man. She loves to learn as much as I did at that age. I remember the first time my father offered me some of his, I looked at him like WTF am I supposed to do with that? But then I tried one, and he set the tin down as he was getting a bite on his line. When he looked back the tin was empty and I was looking through the box for another. My oldest daughter still thinks I am nuts for eating them. She laughed hysterically when I offered her some when she was little, and said "yeah right, like I'm gonna eat that". With Alayna I tried a different approach, I didn't offer at all. I just opened the tin and started eating them. She asked if she could have one, and I said sure and set the tin down to answer the phone. The next thing I know she was tapping me on the shoulder showing me the empty tin, and with her mouth crammed full asking me if I had more :) We have been sharing them on hikes ever since.

Yeah, I started taking Alayna to the woods before she could walk, and on short hikes as soon as she was a toddler. I am glad to see she took on my love of exploration and study. love to find a place to work and let her wander around, and then just stop and observe her from a distance as she explores and discovers.
