In June I visited Mike Long in his shop in Minnesota while I was on my way North for a kayak and fishing trip. Mike is a noted maker in Minnesota and Alaska specializing in hunting and fishing knives. I especially admired his design on this hunter which has a narrow enough tip for fine detail work (caping) with enough belly for good skinning. I must have told him too many times how much I admired this knife because when I got home a heat treated blank was waiting for me in the mail.
I was able to finish the blade and add a bacote handle without ruining his pattern and stopped at his shop again last week to ask him to add his signature. "Long Knives". A collaboration that I will carry with me this fall and hopefully use on a couple of whitetail.
