A surprising cheapo

A while back I bought a chinese knife styled after the Kanetsune knives on E-bay. I put an e-bay snipe on it for very little money. Basically i wanted to buy something fun...it didn't even have to be very good. I ended up getting it for a very low price. And to my surprise...I'm actually very happy with it. I like the design, the materials used are quite good. Fit and finish..although not amazing are not too shabby considering the price.

The funny thing is that having it drives me towards getting a nicer one (in a different size) from a brand like kanetsune.

Enjoy the pictures:

What kind of comment is that? That website is a more permanent place for reviews, plus it enables more layout options and photo options.

What's your problem man?

I saw something like that at my local Chinatown once. It looked really nicely made. Of course, the vendor couldn't really tell me much about it. But it smelled like non stainless. You know, that iron-y kind of smell. Yeah, I must be a real freak, creeping around Chinatown, sniffing the blades...

What's your problem? He was only cluing you in to BF policy. Bladeforums is a discussion site, not a news aggregator.

If the original review site is a good and complete presentation, you can still tell us about the knife here, and what you like about it, and then add a link for the pictures and a more detailed review. BF isn't here to sell other websites.

My problem was that I wanted to share something with people that was in no way shape or form intended to pull away traffic from this site OR make money (or sell something) and he responded quite curtly and with no reasoning whatsoever.

I'm sorry if I seemed to have stepped over the line somehow though and I'll add more info to the first post to make up for it.

Very nice. At least they had the sense to copy a good design.
I wouldn't even say it's a knock-off, being a widely used style already.

i do'nt think you can get a better bang for the buck. americans would do well to look at wooden sheaths as a viable carry. certainly safe & remember the japanese swords were always in wood scabbards, also all the indonesian archipelgo carried knives in wood.i think he made a good buy.

Looks sturdy and not at all bad in design. Might be a good food-prep knife too, depending on thickness.

Can't really say I fancy that sheath, I can see the pro side, but....

Care to say how much it cost?

Well done on the updated review.

Sometimes a less expensive knife allows us to experiment to see if we really like a particular style of knife before shelling out major bucks for a real one.

Like Ordawg said it's about $30 US at the moment and that's including free shipping........I got mine for $16.01 :D

Still, I think $30 is a very fair price for something like this.

The ONE thing that bothers me about the sheath is the buckle on the belt that holds the knife in.

I'm going to try and replace it with one of those press buttons.
Maybe I'll also make a leather sheath for it as an extra in the future. Who knows.

um... an original?...the real McCoy?...the real deal?...a pricey one?...a nice one?
