I'm not an ultra-lighter but weight is definitely a concern for me. So given my current skills and experience this is what I've chosen to carry for this summer and fall. The Silky Saw is a beast that I've used to cut through 6 inch maple in under two minutes. Forget shelter you could probably build a log cabin with this thing. The Bark River Aurora is sturdy, will baton all day, weighs only 6 ounces, and holds its edge extremely well. The SAK Farmer is perfect for fine cutting tasks and has a back up saw and a useful reamer.

Silky Saw - 9 ounces
BRKT Aurora - 6 ounces
SAK Farmer - 3 ounces

Silky Saw in the pack, Aurora on the belt, and Farmer in the pocket.

Am I decently equipped or should I add a chainsaw?:D

Looks like a great piece of kit! Each piece very effective, with some redundancy built in with the SAK.

I use a very similar setup myself: Silky 130, Koster Bushcraft, and Vic' Farmer accompany all my woods wandering, which is probably similar as well (Harriman).

Wow, very similar
And I do spend a lot of time in Harriman :D

That's a fine looking trio you've got there. That BRKT is a great looking knife.

Theo....Great minds think alike thatis very similar to the kit I've used my past few times out...Fox river, Opinel saw, vic farmer.

That's about what my kit is looking like these days. Silky Pocketboy 170, Koster Nessmuk, SAK Outrider. Smaller saw, bigger SAK.

Thanks for posting. My BRKT Aurora is on the way! (Stay tuned for a review). Swap out the Silky and SAK for a LM Wave and you have my summer hiking carry :)

Nice combo there  I still need to get a Silky one of these days too.

Good looking trio. One day I'll try a silky saw and see what everybody is talking about but for know I use a pocket chainsaw, nessmuk and a SAK camper.

Last weekend I went camping and my cousin grabbed a 2" diameter stick to use as a walking stick. I lopped off the end of it with my pocketboy 170. I'd say it took... oh... 5-6 seconds maybe? My cousin's eyes were like half dollars. That would have taken a long time with a sak saw, and a chopper would have left a knarled end that would be uneven when it hit the ground.

I like the color scheme. I had a blaze orange aurora I traded, the handle just wasnt my cup of tea, but that handle looks amazing on it.
My trio is a barkie fox river, GB sfa and a blue farmer. Don't own a silky yet but it could very well replace the axe.

for the warmer months (when traveling lite) a saw is great in the winter in the Northern parts of the us or above an axe is a better bet.
